Regular Season Day 11: Krasnie Krilya - Lietuvos rytas 89-72 (23-14, 20-19, 29-19, 17-20)

Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Lithuanian Lietuvos rytas (5-6) lost to third ranked Russian Krasnie Krilya (8-3) in Samara 72-89 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Krasnie Krilya. Lietuvos rytas was better in fourth quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Krasnie Krilya looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Lietuvos rytas were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Chester Simmons (196-82, college: Washington) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Aaron Miles (186-83, college: Kansas) contributed with 6 points, 13 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Lithuanian Renaldas Seibutis (198-85) answered with 22 points and 7 assists and swingman Arturas Jomantas (200-85) added 8 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Lietuvos rytas. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Krasnie Krilya. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Lietuvos rytas keep the sixth position with six games lost. Krasnie Krilya will face BC Astana (#5) on the road in the next round. Lietuvos rytas will play against the league's second-placed Unics Kazan.
