Date: January 6, 2013 Very expected game when 7th ranked Ukrainian BC Donetsk (4-6) was defeated at home by second ranked Russian Unics Kazan (8-2) 74-63 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Unics Kazan. BC Donetsk was better in second period 12-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Greek power forward Kostas Kaimakoglou (206-83) fired 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American forward Chuck Eidson (203-80, college: S.Carolina, agency: Three Eye Sports) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Unics Kazan players scored in double figures. Lithuanian power forward Darius Songaila (204-78, college: Wake Forest, agency: Priority Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and American-Trinidad and Tobago center D'or Fischer (211-81, college: W.Virginia) added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for lost side. BC Donetsk's coach Josep Berrocal let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Unics Kazan have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Defending Ukrainian champion BC Donetsk keeps the seventh place with six games lost. Unics Kazan will face league's second-placed Spartak St.Petersburg on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. BC Donetsk will play against Kalev/Cramo (#9) in Tallinn and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
