Date: February 1, 2013 Panathinaikos left it late but eventually eked out a narrow home win over Brose Baskets tonight. The win helped the Athens team improve at 4-2 record in Group E. Brose Baskets remained winless at 0-6. Michael Bramos accounted for 16 points to lead the home side. The teams stayed on level terms throughout the starting quarter. The scoreboard read 19:19 after ten minutes. Panathinakos managed to pull ahead in the second frame. The hosts ensured a narrow 36:33 halftime lead. Marcus Banks and Stephane Lasme gave the hosts a 5-point advantage midway through the third term. Later the Athens team gained a 9-point lead but Bamberg stayed in the game. Sharrod Ford capped the period with a dunk to put Brose Baskets within two 49:51. Gipson and Zirbes gave Brose Baskets a 59:57 advantage midway through the fourth period. Michael Bramos, Marcus Banks and Diamantidis put the home team back in charge. Panathinaikos accounted for a 69:63 lead with 83 seconds remaining in regulation. Goldsberry drained a triple to keep Bamberg hopeful. Sharrod Ford put the visitors within three 70:73 with 11 seconds to go. Marcus Banks nailed just one free throw, while Gipson dropped another long bomb as Brose Baskets got within one 73:74. But Maciulis went deadly from the stripe to make it 76:73. Gipson got fouled and missed both his attempts as Panathinaikos secured a tough home win. Stephane Lasme had 15 points, while Marcus Banks added 13 points for the winning side. Bostjan Nachbar responded with 16 points for Brose Baskets. Sharrod Ford added 15 points and 14 boards in the loss.
