Regular Season Round 40: Iowa E. - Texas L. 106-108 (30-27, 22-31, 25-27, 29-23)
Date: February 7, 2013 Trailing by one point with time running out, an eight foot jump shot by Energy forward Paul Harris rimmed out, sending Iowa to a 108-106 defeat in front of 7,249 local school kids. The Energy jumped out to a 30-27 lead behind two three-pointers from guard Justin Hurtt. Texas responded in the second quarter as they scored 31 points to take a 58-52 lead into the break. In a game that saw 18 lead changes and 13 ties, Iowa battled back and led by one at 106-105 with just over 30 seconds remaining. After Texas inbounded the ball, Jeffers nearly had a steal, but the Legends found Sean Williams open under the hoop for a dunk that put the visitors up 107-106. After a timeout, Iowa isolated Jeffers who drove down the lane and was cut off by the Legends defense. The ball popped loose, and Harris missed an open shot from just outside of the lane with 4.8 seconds remaining. On the ensuing possession, Texas' Justin Dentmon threw the ball off of Harris' back and raced down the court, winding down all but 0.1 second. Dentmon made one of two free throws to ice the game, sending the Energy to their ninth loss in ten games. Harris led the Energy with 22 points and 11 rebounds while Hurtt finished with 17 points.
