Regular Season Day 13: VEF Riga - Enisey 85-69 (22-19, 23-18, 21-12, 19-20)

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Russian Enisey Krasnoyarsk (5-8) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Latvian VEF Riga (9-4) 85-69 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by VEF Riga. Enisey Krasnoyarsk was better in fourth quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for VEF Riga especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Enisey Krasnoyarsk's players. American-Bulgarian guard Earl Rowland (188-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) fired 10 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. Lithuanian forward Donatas Zavackas (203-80, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four VEF Riga players scored in double figures. American forward Davon Jefferson (204-86, college: USC) produced 16 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import guard Jason Rich (191-86) added 12 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Latvian champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Unics and Lokomotiv. Enisey Krasnoyarsk lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh position with eight games lost. VEF Riga will face league's leader Zalgiris in Kaunas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Enisey Krasnoyarsk will play at home against Lokomotiv (#3) in Kuban.
