Date: February 3, 2013 A very interesting game took place in Kuban. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked BC Nizhny Novgorod (7-6) to third ranked Lokomotiv (9-4) 75-74 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of BC Nizhny Novgorod. BC Nizhny Novgorod was ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 24-14 third quarter run of Lokomotiv. They outrebounded BC Nizhny Novgorod 38-26 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. 28 personal fouls committed by BC Nizhny Novgorod helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American-Greek point guard Nick Calathes (198-89, college: Florida) nailed 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and Australian center Aleks Maric (211-84, college: Nebraska) accounted for 10 points and 10 rebounds. Four Lokomotiv players scored in double figures. Lokomotiv's coach Evgeny Pashutin used entire bench in such tough game. American swingman Dijon Thompson (201-83, college: UCLA) came up with 17 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Artem Yakovenko (205-88) added 20 points respectively for BC Nizhny Novgorod in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Lokomotiv. They maintain third place with 9-4 record behind leader Zalgiris, which they share with Unics and VEF Riga. BC Nizhny Novgorod at the other side keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Lokomotiv's next round opponent will be Enisey Krasnoyarsk (#7) on the road. BC Nizhny Novgorod will play against Triumph Lyubertsy in Lubertsy and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
