Regular Season Day 15: Zalgiris - Enisey 86-61 (30-19, 16-17, 19-14, 21-11)
Date: February 17, 2013 Very expected game in Kaunas where 8th ranked Russian Enisey Krasnoyarsk (5-10) was crushed by first ranked Lithuanian Zalgiris (14-1) 86-61 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Zalgiris. Enisey Krasnoyarsk was better in second period 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Enisey Krasnoyarsk 42-22 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for forward Mindaugas Kuzminskas (205-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 8 rebounds. Swingman Adas Juskevicius (194-89) helped adding 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Zalgiris players scored in double figures. Zalgiris' coach Joan Plaza felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Bosnian center Elmedin Kikanovic (210-88, agency: Beo Basket) with 14 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Davon Jefferson (204-86, college: USC) scored 16 points. Zalgiris have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. Defending Lithuanian champion maintains first place with 14-1 record. Enisey Krasnoyarsk lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with ten games lost. Zalgiris will face CEZ Nymburk (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Enisey Krasnoyarsk will play against Triumph Lyubertsy in Lubertsy and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
