Regular Season Day 15: BC Donetsk - Krasnie Krilya 96-87 (24-28, 24-24, 21-18, 27-17)
Date: February 22, 2013 There was a change at the VTB United League leadership position after last games. Round 15 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Russian Krasnie Krilya (11-4). They were defeated by seventh ranked Ukrainian BC Donetsk (6-9) 96-87 on Friday night. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Krasnie Krilya. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 27-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. BC Donetsk looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for guard Ramel Curry (192-80, college: CSU Bakersfield) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 7 assists. Guard Curtis Millage (185-81, college: Arizona St.) helped adding 17 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. BC Donetsk's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was guard Chester Simmons (196-82, college: Washington) with 22 points and 8 rebounds and forward Andre Smith (203-85, college: N.Dakota St.) scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Five BC Donetsk and four Krasnie Krilya players scored in double figures. Defending Ukrainian champion maintains seventh place with 6-9 record. Krasnie Krilya at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Zalgiris who have the same record. Krasnie Krilya will play next round against league's leader Unics Kazan trying to make it back to the top of the standings. BC Donetsk will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked PGE Turow in Zgorzelec.
