Top 16 Round 9: Panathinaikos - Anadolu Efes 75-62 (19-21, 19-17, 18-13, 19-11)
Date: March 1, 2013 Panathinaikos celebrated the sixth victory in the EuroLeague Top 16 campaign. They knocked down Anadolu Efes in Athens to share the third/fourth position in Group E with CSKA. Roko-Leni Ukic and Dimitris Diamantidis delivered 13 points each to lead the Greek side. Anadolu Efes looked determined and confident in the opening quarter. The Turkish side grabbed a 21:19 lead after ten minutes. However Panathinaikos quickly denied the deficit. The Hellenes stiffened defensively and levelled things up at 38 at the interval. Panathinaikos stayed aggressive defensively in the third term. Roko-Leni Ukic and Dimitris Diamantidis gave the hosts a 56:48 lead midway through the period. Panathinaikos entered the fourth frame up by 5 points 56:51. The visitors opened the final frame with five points in a row to deny the deficit. However Panathinaikos answered with a stunning 16:0 run to clear off for good. Sofoklis Schortsanitis and Michael Bramos produced 11 points each for the home team. Dusko Savanovic answered with game-high 21 points for Anadolu Efes. Jordan Farmar netted 10 points in the loss.
