Regular Season Day 16: CEZ Nymburk - Zalgiris 84-90 (17-23, 22-21, 23-27, 22-19)

Lithuanian leader Zalgiris delivered the fifteenth victory on Sunday night. This time they beat 7th ranked Czech CEZ Nymburk (5-10) 90-84. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-17. But CEZ Nymburk won second period 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zalgiris made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Zalgiris outrebounded CEZ Nymburk 36-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. CEZ Nymburk was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Oliver Lafayette (188-84, college: Houston) fired 15 points for the winners. Forward Mindaugas Kuzminskas (205-89) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. Slovakian power forward Radoslav Rancik (207-79, college: St.Cloud St., agency: Beo Basket) produced 20 points and Jiri Welsch (199-80) added 11 points and 9 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Zalgiris (15-1) have an impressive 11-game winning streak. Defending Lithuanian champion maintains first position. Defending Czech champion CEZ Nymburk keeps the seventh place with ten games lost. Zalgiris will face Tsmoki-Minsk (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. CEZ Nymburk will play against the league's second-placed CSKA Moscow.
