Regular Season Round 25: Blusens M. - Valencia 74-80 (18-17, 15-22, 20-22, 21-19)
Date: March 16, 2013 Everything went according to plan in Santoago de Comp where fifth ranked Valencia Basket (15-10) beat 10th ranked Blusens Monbus (12-13) 80-74. It looked good early as Blusens Monbus took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Valencia Basket had a 22-15 second period charge getting the lead and Blusens Monbus was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 74-80. Valencia Basket made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for American forward Justin Doellman (206-85, college: Xavier) who helped to win the game recording 32 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his twelve free throws !!!). point guard Pau Ribas (193-87) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Forward Alberto Corbacho (201-84) answered with 17 points (made all of his eight free throws) and Tunisian center Salah Mejri (217-86) added 18 points in the effort for Blusens Monbus. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Valencia Basket maintains fifth place with 15-10 record, which they share with G.Canaria 2014. Newly promoted Blusens Monbus keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. Valencia Basket's next round opponent will be G.Canaria 2014 (#6) in Las Palmas. Blusens Monbus will play at home against Asefa Estudiantes (#10) in Madrid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
