World Championships U17 Basketball (Women)


FIBA U17 World Championship starts on Friday in Amsterdam - Aug 15, 2012

Everything is ready for the beginning of 2012 FIBA U17 World Championship in Amsterdam. The twelve participating teams will be divided into two groups (A, B) of six teams each. Each team will play all the other teams in its own group (total of five games for each team). First four teams from each group will advance to the Quarterfinals. Other teams will be transferred to Classification games from 9th-12th place. 30 games in total will be played in Preliminary Round.

GROUP A: Belgium, Canada, Italy, Korea, Mali and USA.
GROUP B: Australia, Brazil, Japan, Holland, Spain and Turkey.

As mentioned above, the event starts on Friday and Preliminary Round will end on August 22. Quarterfinals will be played on August 24 and Semis are scheduled for day later. August 26 (Sunday) is the last day of the competition in Amsterdam.

USA is the defending champion from 2010. They blasted France in the gold medal game 92-60. Two years ago bronze medal belonged to China.

FINAL USA - Spain 75-62 USA defended the title at FIBA U17 World Championship in Amsterdam. They outplayed Spain 75-62 today in the Big Final. Rebecca Greenwell (6'1''-SG-95) was the leading player in victory with double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds. She reached valuation 19 and was the MVP of this meeting. SEMIFINALS Canada - USA 59-84 USA advanced to title game at FIBA U17 World Championship in Amsterdam. They handed 84-59 loss to Canada today in the Semis.
