2017 World Cup Draw takes place in Cairo - Feb 11, 2017

The 2017 U19 World Cup official draw has been held in Cairo, Egypt today. The tournament is schedule to take place in Egypt from July 1st through 9th. Sixteen teams have been drawn into four groups of four teams each. Following the suspension of the Brazilian Basketball Federation, a fourth team from the Americas will be announced by FIBA soon. Formerly known as the FIBA U19 World Championship, the tournament now carries the name of FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup to be in line with naming convention ofFIBA events from 2017 onwards.

Group A: Americas TBA, New Zealand, South Korea, France
Group B: Germany, Egypt, Puerto Rico, Lithuania
Group C: Canada, Japan, Spain, Mali
Group D: Iran, Angola, Italy and USA.


The USA will enter the tournament as two-time defending champions having won the titles back in 2013 and 2015.

FINAL Canada - Italy 79-60 Canada are crowned champions in Cairo. They prevailed against Italy in the Final. Rowan Barrett Jr. (201-SF-00) posted 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead the winners. Canada grabbed a 24:10 lead ten minutes into the game. The North American side dropped 27 points in the second term to ensure a 15-point halftime lead. SEMIFINALS Spain - Italy 63-66 Italy snatched a narrow win over Spain to reach the championship game in Cairo. Lorenzo Bucarelli (196-G/F-98) stepped up with 15 points to pace the Azzurri. Spain dominated in the opening quarter. They built a 22:9 lead after ten minutes. But Italy used a 20:8 rally in the second stanza to pull within one point.
