Egypt has announced its roster for William Jones tournament which will take place in Taiwan from the 8th to the 17th of August.

The main surprise of the selection was 7'2 Omar Oraby who plays for USC Trojans in NCAA's first division. Last year Oraby didn't join the national team training camp after being invited by coach Amr El Abu El Kheir. Later on he was penalized and suspended till the end of 2014 world cup by the Egyptian basketball federation.

Recently Oraby has proved that not joining the national team last year was something out of his hands and therefor he would make the final world cup squad.

His addition can cover a major void specially after Assem Marei's injury. He has just came back from Las Vegas summer league after playing for Houston Rockets. While for the Trojans he had averaged last season 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game.

Team Star Assem Marei won't be in the squad as he is still recovering from a minor knee surgery. There are still chances that he will play in the world cup despite his fitness would be a main concern.

The team will compete in this cup against Iran, Japan, S.Korea, Jordan, USA, Taiwan A, and Taiwan B.

Egypt's squad for William Jones cup are:

(PG) Wael Badr (Sporting, Egypt)
(PG) Mohannad El Sabbagh (Al Ittihad, Egypt)
(G) Ibrahim El Gammal (Al Ahly Egypt)
(SG) Youssef Shousha (Sporting, Egypt)
(SG) Sherif Geneidy (Zamalek, Egypt)
(G/F) Amr El Gendy (Gezira, Egypt)
(G/F) Mohamed El Leithy (Sporting, Egypt)
(SF) Moamen Abu El Enein (Al Ittihad, Egypt)
(PF) Rami Ibrahim (Al Ittihad, Egypt)
(PF) Mostafa Mekawy (Zamalek, Egypt)
(C) Haitham Kamal (Al Ittihad, Egypt)
(C) Omar Oraby (USC Trojans)
(C) Ashraf Rabie (Al Ittihad, Egypt)
(C) Seif Samir (Al Ahly Egypt)
