France - Brazil 53-60
Brazil advanced into the semifinal stage at the World University Games. They rolled past France behind 15 points and 7 rebounds from Lucas Dias Silva (209-F-95). Brazil grabbed a 17:12 lead after ten minutes. France erased the deficit and secured a 29:28 halftime lead. Brazil held their opponents to just 9 points in the third frame and grabbed an 8-point lead at the final intermission. Brazil maintained the lead throughout the fourth quarter and surged to the win. Daniel Bordignon (206-C/F-96) and Arthur Casimiro (208-C-92, college: San Bernardino CC) had 10 points each for Brazil. Billy Ouattara (191-SG-92) and Antony Labanca (192-SG-94) replied with 12 points each for France.

USA - Lithuania 70-48
The USA stormed past Lithuania to advance into the semifinal stage in Gwangju. Frank Mason (180-PG) scored 18 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and issued 4 assists for the winners. Team USA accumulated a 37:30 halftime lead. Lithuania cut the distance in the third term. They got within 3 points at the final intermission. But Team USA bounced back with a 25:6 rally in the fourth quarter and eased to the victory. Wayne Selden (196-SF-94) provided 13 points for the winning side. Lithuania responded with 18 points from Paulius Dambrauskas (192-G-85).

Germany - Canada 79-73
Germany held off Canada in the quarterfinal clash in Gwangju today. Mathis Monninghoff (200-G/F-92, agency: Beo Basket, college: Gonzaga) stepped up with 16 points to pace the winners. Germany eked out a 32:29 halftime lead. Canada pulled within two points at the final intermission. But Germany unloaded 29 points in the fourth frame and cruised to the win. Maodo Lo (190-G-92) tossed in 14 points for Germany. Johnny Berhanemeskel (188-G-92, agency: Two Points) responded with 16 points for the North American team.

Russia - Estonia 86-65
Russia cruised past Estonia to seal their semifinal appearance. Aleksandr Gudumak (203-PF-93, agency: Alti Sport) scored 13 points to pace the winners. Russia earned a 44:26 halftime lead. Russia extended the margin at 23-point mark at the final break and never looked back en route to the victory. Artem Klimenko (214-C-94) and Artem Vikhrov (196-PG-92, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) accounted for 9 points each for the winners. Janari Joesaar (198-F-93) responded with 15 points for Estonia.

Lithuania edge USA to claim title in Taipei - 2 months ago
FINAL USA - Lithuania 74-85 Lithuania captured the Gold medals in Taipei. They overcame the USA in the Final. Ignas Vaitkus (196-SF-93, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 15 points to lead the Baltic team. The USA accumulated a 38:36 halftime lead. But Lithuania bounced back with a 25:18 run in the third term. USA and Lithuania to battle for title in Taipei - 2 months ago
SEMIFINALS Latvia - Lithuania 75-77 Lithuania nipped Latvia to enter Final in Taipei. Ignas Vaitkus (196-SF-93, agency: Octagon Europe) notched 20 points to lead the winners. Latvia recorded a 17:13 lead after the opening quarter. Lithuania bounced back in the second term. They sank 23 points to surge ahead for a 36:33 halftime lead.
