China lost to Lithuania 108-69 in the World University Games.  China only trailed Lithuania 29-25 after the first quarter and 51-41 at the half.  But it was outscored 58-28 in the second half.

 

Hou Ye led China with 14 points while Zhao Nan had 12.  Mo Guochao had his first good game of the tournament with 12 points on 6-10 shooting and 7 rebounds.  He had 1 steal and no turnovers.

 

Lithuania had a much older team than China.  Most of China's players are born in 1984-1986 while most of Lithuania's players were born in 1982 or earlier.

FINAL USA - Lithuania 74-85 Lithuania captured the Gold medals in Taipei. They overcame the USA in the Final. Ignas Vaitkus (196-SF-93, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 15 points to lead the Baltic team. The USA accumulated a 38:36 halftime lead. But Lithuania bounced back with a 25:18 run in the third term. They followed with a 24:18 rally in the fourth quarter to clinch the title. Evaldas Saulys (190-G-93) provided 14 points in the victory. SEMIFINALS Latvia - Lithuania 75-77 Lithuania nipped Latvia to enter Final in Taipei. Ignas Vaitkus (196-SF-93, agency: Octagon Europe) notched 20 points to lead the winners. Latvia recorded a 17:13 lead after the opening quarter. Lithuania bounced back in the second term. They sank 23 points to surge ahead for a 36:33 halftime lead.
