Regular Season Round 14: Efes Pilsen - Besiktas 85-83 (23-31, 16-17, 16-16, 18-9, 12-10) Date: January 8, 2011 TBL round 14 most interesting game took place in Istanbul (derby !!!) between Efes Pilsen and Besiktas. Fourth ranked Efes Pilsen (10-4) got a very close home victory over 7th ranked Besiktas (7-6). Efes Pilsen managed to escape with a 2-point win 85-83 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 9 points after three quarters before their 18-9 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Efes Pilsen forced 21 Besiktas turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by Besiktas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. International power forward Kerem Gonlum (208-77) had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Slovenian swingman Bostjan Nachbar (207-80, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 21 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Efes Pilsen's coach Velimir Perasovic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Australian center Andrew James Ogilvy (211-88, college: Vanderbilt) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds and the former international power forward Cevher Ozer (206-83, agency: 1x1 Sports) scored 27 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Efes Pilsen maintains fourth position with 10-4 record. Besiktas lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with six games lost. Efes Pilsen are looking forward to face Olin Edirne (#7) on the road in the next round. Besiktas will play against Erdemir and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
