A game unworth of an European Cup! The two teams have lost so many balls, have failed in so many shoots and defended so bad that this game's level was very mediocre. However, this victory for Vacallo signifies a real approch in the qualification to the next step.

5 Round, 10/11/99
Olympique Antibes (FRA) - Girona (ESP) 83-88 (Woodward 14, Adams 14 – Stewart 20+11reb, Middleton 16+7reb)
AB Vacallo (SUI) - BC Brother Gent (BEL) 85-65 (Locatelli 2, Sassella 12, Matthews 22, Putzi 9, Grimes 11, Lisicky 15, Opacak 14, Mombelli. (Vacallo without Mujezinovic, injured, Vacallo will battle next wednesday for the first place of its group.) - Turner, Chubick, Cooper 8, Shanks 12, Decuyper 3, Van der Broek 5, Henderson 4, Bergström 19, Veldemann, Scheirs)
Gand has suffered a fifth consecutive defeat yesterday night. First-half's man was without doubt Lee Matthews, who has scored 8pts in 3' (9'-11'), during what the score moved from 18-18 to 27-18. Even if Gand has dominate its opponent in the defensive rebound (25 for Gand and only 7 for Vacallo) and lost less balls(10 for Gand and 21 for WBT), we can say that Vacallo has made the difference in the shoot's dexterity: 71% for Vacallo and 29% for Gand after 20'. It will be in Vacallo's turn to battle for the first place of the group, on the 17.11.99 in Spain, against Gerona.

6 Round, 17/11/99
Girona (ESP) - AB Vacallo WBT (SUI) 98-81 WBT (SUI) 98-81
Score's evolution: 5': 12-11 , 10': 21-22, 15': 28-31, 25': 53-47, 30': 71-50, 35': 83-71.
Gerona: Stewart 14 , Johnson 4, Middleton 18, Kuisma 14, Laso 8, Darnes 7, Espinosa 6, Sanchez-Bernat 7, Vallmajo 6, Moraga 14.
Vacallo: Locatelli 8, Matthews 16, Putzi 6, Lisicky 22, Sassella 13, Grimes 8, Opacak 8.
Vacallo had too many problems inside ( 40 rbs for Girona against 27 ), they played without center H. Mujezinovic ( hurted )
Mujezinovic (injured), Fillmore and Mombelli haven't played.
Franco Casalini's team has hold out during the first half, thanks to a good defense on Middleton by Lee Matthews, and on Moraga (212cm) by Grimes, and a great offensive performance from Peter Lisicky (15 pts at the tea time). Mujezinovic's centimeters have missed against huge centers Kuisma (208cm) and Moraga. We can also see that Vacallo has got a manpower's problem: Coach Casalini has called back Mark Fillmore, retired, to have 10 players. Vacallo ended so at the second place of the group, and will battle against Galatasaray (first game on the 8.12.99 at home) for the 1/8 final round.

BC Brother Gent (BEL) - Olympique Antibes (FRA) 81-86 (Shanks 22, Van den Broek 21, Chubick 18 – Woodward 21+4reb+5ast, Adams 15+4reb)
