Attendance: 500
Wroclaw had a 23:0 run between the 5th and 15th minute of the first half! Very bad field-goal percentage of St.Polten throughout the entire game.

Buducnost Podgorica - Hapoel Eilat 75-80
(Scepanovic 20, pajovic 13, Boskovic 7, Vukcevic 9, Bulatovic 16, Topalovic 10 - Ashkenazi 9, Gaines 9, Aharoni 11, Campbel l, Katz 11, Rubchenko 21, Newton 18)
Buducnost lost the opening game in Saporta cup in front of 5000 spectators in Podgorica. Except when it was leading by 10 points in the middle of the first half, Buducnost was inferior most of the game. The only good performance came from Pajovic and Scepanovic while pivots of Buducnost completely failed. Eilat was led by Roman Rubachenko to a great victory over one of the best teams in Yugoslavia.

2nd round (29/09/98)
UBJ Süba St. Pölten - Pamesa Valencia 58-74 (James (22), Triemstra (10), Orekhov (7), Newbern (10), Nusterer (3), Weissenbock (6), Korolev, Lutz. Pamesa Cerámica : Rodilla (4), Luengo (12), Alvarez (17), Hopkins (12), Sellers (11), Maluenda (7), Albert (7), Alonso (3), Martorell (1), Burgos)
Buducnost 87 - ASK Broceni 84 (Scepanovic 22, Pajovic 5, Boskovic 2, Radonjic 2, Vukcevic 9, Ceranic 11, Bulatovic 24, Radunovic 2, Topalovic 10 - Helmanis 14, Grafs 3, Purnis 11, Holden 32, Umbrasko 4, Morgan 8, Vecvargas 12)
40 sec. before the end Buducnost was down by 8 points!! They managed to tie at the end (73:73) and win in the overtime.

Hapoel Eilat (ISR) - Zepter Wroclaw (POL) 75-83 (Newton 17, Aharoni 16, Gaines 10, Campbell 10, Rubchenko 10, Ashkenazi 8, Katz 4 - Wojcik 20, Wilangowski 18, Zielinski 17, Miglinieks 12, Smith 9, Zyskowski 5, Wilczek 2)
An easy victory for the Polish team, although they played with only one American. Eilat suffered greatly from a very bad day of Amir Katz (0/7 from 3pts.), and from bad defense from Newton (The Polish Wilangowsky had ... 16 rebounds!!).

3rd round (6/10/98)
BC Pamesa Valencia - Budocnost Podgorica 78-68
Hapoel Eilat - St. Polten 92-77 (Katz 30, Campbell 26, Newton 19, Rubchenko 7, Aharoni 5, Gaines 5 -)
ASK Brocéni Riga - Zepter Slask Wroclaw 77-73 (Helmanis 25, Holdens 18, Morgans 11, Vecvagars 10 - Zelinski 22, Miglinieks 14, Wilangowki 14)

4th round (13/10/98)
Hapoel Eilat - Pamesa Valencia 80-86 (Katz 15, Gaines 15, Newton 12, Rubchenko 11, Campbell 11, Aharoni 2, Ashkenazi 2, Aviel 1 - Hopkins 22, Alvarez 16, Selers 16, Maluenda 10, Rodilla 7,
Luengo 7, Alonso 6, Albert 2)
Again, the total lack of replacements to Eilat's front-court forces it to be very soft, so the Spaniards outrebounded Eilat by 36-25. With this fact there was no possible way Eilat could have won this game. It's Eilat's 2nd home loss in the Saporta cup.
Zepter Slask Wroclaw - Budocnost Podgorica 68-70
ASK Brocéni Riga - UBJ Süba St. Pölten 61-65 (Holdens 20, Helmanis 19, Purnis 12 - Nusterers 14, James 12, Orehov 13)

5th round (20/10/98)
Pamesa Valencia - Zepter Slask Wroclaw 71-59
Hapoel Eilat - ASK Brocéni Riga 97-109 (Katz 21, Gaines 19, Rubchenko 19, Newton 18, Campbell 12, Ashkenazi 6, Aharoni 2 - Helmanis 29, Holden 22, Vecvargas 15, Pumis 12, Vaikulis 11, Morgan 10, Grafs 6, Jumikis 4)
Eilat is in serious problems: It's their 4th conserucutive loss. Eilat thiss time lost to a bunch of teen-agers, showing humiliating preformance on defense, specially on the 1st half, when Broceni scored... 60 points. The Latvian had 6 players with double figures.
UBJ Süba St. Pölten - Buducnost Podgorica 66-69

6th round (3/11/98)
ASK Brocéni Riga - Pamesa Valencia 81-85 (Holden 17, Sneps 15 (5 ast), Morgan 15 (10 reb), Vaikulis 13, Vecvagars 9, Purnis 6, S. Valters 4, K. Valters 2, Grafs, Ciprus - Sellers 22 (14 reb), Rodilla 20, Albert 10, Hopkins 10, Luengo 9 (4/4 2p), Bernardo Alvarez 8, Alonso 4, Maluenda 2), Attendance: 3.600
Zepter Slask Wroclaw - UBJ Süba St. Pölten 80-77
Hapoel Eilat - Budocnost Podgorica 76-78 (Katz 30, Aharoni 10, Campbell 9, Rubchenko 9, Gaines 7, Ashkenazi 6, Aviel 3, Newton 2 - Scepanovic 20, Bulatovic 16, Vikcevic 9, Radonjic 8, Topalovic 8, Boskovic 6, Radunovic 4, Ceranic 4, Pajovic 3)
Podgorica led at the begining of the game, with a great game of Vlado Scepanovic, and with 14 3-pointers. But 15 points by Amir Katz kept Eilat in the game. but at the begining of the 2nd half, Podgorica just crashed Eilat, and went to a 16 points lead (68-52) 8 minutes to the end. But then Eilat made a run, led by Oren Aharoni, Amir Katz, and Yitzhak Aviel, that brought Eilat to a 76-76 tie 30 seconds to the end. But Podgorica scored the winning basket, 0.96 seconds to the end.

7th round (10/11/98)
Pamesa Valencia - UBJ Süba St. Pölten 79-63
ASK Brocéni Riga - Budocnost Podgorica 86-78 (Vecvagars 25 (3/4 3p), Helmanis 19, Sneps 15 (9 reb), Holden 12, Morgan 6, S. Valters 5, Vaikulis 2, Purnis 2 - Bulatovic 24 (8/9 2p, 2/2 3p), Scepanovic 15 (6 TO), Pajovic 12 (5 ast), Radonjic 11, Vukcevic 8, Radunovic 4, Topalovic 2, Ceranic 2, Boskovic). Attendance: 3.000
Broceni won a tougher game than the final score indicates, against Buducnost lead by an impressive Bulatovic. Latvian players Vecvagars, Sneps and Helmanis were this time more decisive than Broceni American players, especially in the second half.
Zepter Slask Wroclaw - Hapoel Eilat 75-58 ( - Gaines 18, Newton 15, Aharoni 12, Campbell 9, Ashkenazi 2, Katz 2)
Eilat will probably not promote to the next stage, after they were humiliated in Poland. Eilat played without Rubchenko, that was not allowed to enter Poland (his passport expired), and the injured Katz played only 1 minute.

8th round (17/11/98)
Buducnost Podgorica - Pamesa Valencia 71-78
UBJ Süba St. Pölten - Hapoel Eilat 93-72 (Triemstra 25; James 18; Nusterer 13; Weissenböck 12; Orekhov 10; Newborn 8; Lutz 7 - Campbell 29, Katz 18, Gaines 12, Aharoni 9, Ashkenazi 4)
Eilat played without the injured Greg Newton and without Roman Rubchenko, that needs to renew his passport. So Eilat came with 5 youth players, and was crushed. Yuval Ashkenazi played the entire 2nd half while being injured. Eilat is the weakest Israeli ream in Europe, after falling to the last place in their house.
Zepter Slask Wroclaw - ASK Brocéni Riga 76-67 (Wojcik 25, Zielinski 17, Mc Naull 15 (7/8 2p), Smith 9, Miglinieks 6, Zyskovski 4, Krzykala, Wilczek, Wilangovski - Hoden 18, S. Valters 13, Helmanis 11, Sneps 9 (5 TO), Vaikulis 6, Morgan 5, Vecvagars 3, Purnis 2, Grafs, K. Valters)
Attendance: 4.000
It was a good game for both teams, but shooting % of Broceni was too poor, anyway Slask was really superior and the result is true. Broceni american J.R. Holden missed many shots (3/11 2p) from defensive pressure. In Slask Latvian-born Raimonds Miglinieks was best rebounder in the game, with 8 boards.

9th round (8/12/98)
Pamesa Valencia  - Hapoel Eilat 91-61 (- Newton 15, Campbell 14, Katz 12, Aharoni 11, Gaines 9)
Hapoel Eilat prefers to focus on the league. It didn't even bother to renew Roman Robachenko's passport, and he didn't go with the team. Eilat really humiliates Israel in the Saporta cup.
Buducnost Podgorica - Zepter Slask Wroclaw 89-82
UBJ Süba St. Pölten - ASK Brocéni Riga 76-77 (James 21 (6/7 2p), Orekhov 12, Triemstra 12 (4/4 2p), Nusterer 11, Weissenboeck 10 8 4 ast), Newborn 6, Lutz 4, Korolev - Sneps 18 (4/4 2p, 3/6 3p, 5 stl), Holden 16 (6 ast), Helmanis 13 (10 reb), Morgan 8, S. Valters 6, Purnis 5, Vaikulis 4, Skirmants 4, Vecvagars 3, Umbrasko)

10th round (15/12/98)
Zepter Slask Wroclaw - Pamesa Valencia 64-65
ASK Brocéni Riga - Hapoel Eilat 83-80 (Sneps 21 (9 reb), Holden 21 (7 ast), Morgan 16 (6/7 2p), Helmanis 12 (7 ast), Purnis 4, S. Valters 3, Vaikulis 2, Skirmants 2, Vecvagars 2, Umbrasko - Newton 27 (16 reb), Aharoni 17, Katz 17, Gaines 10 (11 ast), Rubtchenko 5, Campbell 4, Ashkenazy). Attendance: 4.500
Ahead a full crowd in Riga, Broceni came behind in the second half to beat Hapoel Elia, alreay out for the playoffs. The Israelis were at +9 at halftime, with Greg Newton dominating in the paint, but Broceni scored a 38-19 partial in the first 14 minutes of the second half, to win a game, which could have meant something for Broceni (a better position) only if Buducnost would have lost. Edgars Sneps was the MVP, with 21 points, 6/10 2p, 2/3 3p, 5 assists and also was top rebounder for his team (9), unusual for a guard. Broceni ends 4th in the group C and will have a tough first playoff round against Partizan Belgrade.
Buducnost Podgorica - UBJ Süba St. Pölten 95-61
