Branko Cvetkovic returns to FMP - by Dragan Jankovski
Former member of Serbian National team, Branko Cvetkovic (200-G/F-84) officially returned to his ex team FMP Zeleznik. After two seasons abroad, Cvetkovic returned to the team where he grew up as a player. He started last season in Greek Panionios and later joined Spanish CAI Zaragoza. In Greece he had 8.9 ppg and 2.8 rpg for 20 games. They participated in Euroleague, where Cvetkovic had 12.1 ppg and 2 rpg for 9 games. In ACB, he added 10.7 ppg for 3 games in Zaragoza.

KK Bosna inks Bailey and Radonjic - by Nedzad Kladusak
After the departure KK Bosna signed with Gorjan Radonjic and Bryan Bailey who played already with Bosna two years ago.
The shocking games of KK Bosna caused a major disinterest.
Goran Radonjic is the son of a former KK Bosna official and started his career with french Dijon.
He is expected to cover the positions 2 and 3 while Bailey will try to organise the game of KK Bosna.
Both are expected to give their debutes against Cibona.
There are rumours that a big men will join KK Bosna since Ivan Ivanovic will be sidelined for a long period due to a
serious knee injury.

Despite its efforts and its commitment to rely on 'homegrown' talents KK Bosna will have to face the truth that its younger selections
do not produce players which can contribute on higher competition levels.

The second half was hit by hit, Valdivia recovered the certainty of its better man Heard who scored from all positions and turned in a problem without solution.   CHINA

Chen going to Guangdong - by Chris Wang
Apple Daily reported that Yulon Luxgen forward Chen Hsin-An (196-G/F-80) is scheduled to go to China next Sunday and is expected to sign with Dongguan New Century.

Chen, who had surgeries on both knees in June, is working on his conditioning to prepare for the upcoming season in China, which will tip off on Dec. 19.

Once the biggest star in Taiwanese basketball, Chen has been plagued by injuries during the past three years and his skill deteriorated.

With or without Chen, Yulon has been and will always be competitive with the core of center Tseng Wen-ting and a group of aggressive and experienced guards. Which was why Yulon let go of Chen.

Sources told me that Yulon planned to send Chen to Shanxi but Chen opposed the move. Luxgen head coach Zhang Xue-lei, sources said, made up his mind that Yulon would stay competitive without Chen. At the same time he can be a valuable asset for his good friend Wu Qing-long, Shanxi's head coach.

Feeling unwanted, Chen then made his move to contact Chinese teams although he's still under contract. He figured that Yulon would let him do whatever he wanted again, just like what happened in 2002 when he tried out for Sacramento Kings and 2005, when he signed a lucrative contract with ETSN Antelopes before changing mind and re-joining Yulon.

Guess what? Chen was right. Not only Yulon approved his transfer to China but Yulon decided not to challenge Chen's breach of contract.

On other news, Lin Chih-Chieh (192-F-82), who's currently in Zhejiang's pre-season training camp, said that his goal for the new season is averaging 10-15 points and 5 assists.

But Lin will have to make a major adjustment in his game, which contains a lot of penetration. Zhejiang head coach Wang Fei, a former Chinese NT member, stresses a lot on set-up plays which require less penetration, more ball movement, cutting and screening.

Kyle Bailey Looking To Lead EnBW Ludwigsburg Into The BEKO BBL Playoffs - by Miles Schmidt-Scheuber

Kyle Bailey (188-G-82, college: Santa Clara) is a 27 year old 188 cm guard from Fairbanks Alaska that is a very smart player who handles the ball well, performs well under pressure and regularly is the first player at practice and the last to leave. He is playing his fourth season in Germany and first with EnBW Ludwigsburg. He played at Santa Clara with Macabbi Tel Aviv guard Doron Perkins from 2000-2005. In his senior year, he played 31 games averaging 14.8ppg, 4.7rpg, 4.2apg, 1.5spg, FGP: 37.2%, 3Pts: 31.3%. In his first professional season in 2005-2006, he split time between the Florida Flame (NBDL) and BK Riga of the Latvian league. In 2006-2007, he went to Germany to play for BG Goettingen playing 29 games and averaging 20.8ppg, 5.7rpg, 3.0apg, 2.8spg, 2FGP: 48.1%, 3FGP: 35.9%, FT: 77.0%. He led the team into the BBL winning the second league north. In 2007-2008, he played for Ratiopharm Ulm playing 18 games averaging 12.6ppg, 3.0rpg, 3.4apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 47.3%, 3PT: 31.0%, FT: 64.5%. Last season, he helped lead MEG Goettingen into the playoffs playing 23 games and averaging 14.4ppg, 4.3rpg, 3.3apg, 1.2spg, FGP: 43.5%, 3PT: 32.1%, FT: 74.2%. He sat down with eurobasket to talk about his new team EnBW Ludwigsburg.

After a strong season with MEG Goettingen last season, what was the main reason why you stayed in the BEKO BBL?

It was a tough situation last summer. I took some time to decide what I would do. Ludwigsburg was a good opportunity for me. Ludwigsburg gives me the chance to play for a bigger team and in a bigger market. The team has high expectations and I want to achieve the high goals. The team hasnt had so much success in the last years and I want to help the team make the playoffs.

You played two seasons in Goettingen and one in Ulm. What do you like about Ludwigsburg?

I like the city center where the Christmas market is and I am really looking forward to visiting it at Christmas time. I am also looking forward to playing in the new arena that seats 5,000 people on a regular basis. It is also nice that Stuttgart is only 15 minutes away.

How is your German these days?

My German is good.

You guys started slow at 1-2, but have a five game winning streak sine then. What are the reasons for the turnaround?

The team was formed well by management. It always takes some time to find your rhythm. We have been playing without Rashaun Freeman, but he is returning soon. Starting 1-2 can always happen. We just have to put it all together.

ENBW Ludwigsburg beat EWE Baskets Oldenburg and had narrow wins against Giessen and Tuebingen. How has the team been able to have such strong nerves so early in season?

We believe in each other. We have a lot of experience. Quadre Lollis has won titles in Europe. Michael King has a lot of experience. Michael Haynes and Richard Chaney are very talented as well as myself who had a good season last year. We are one of the most talented teams on paper. If we lose to teams then it is not because of the opponent, but because of us doing things wrong on the court.

How much strength did the win in Tuebingen cost the team?

It was a derby game and we knew that it would be a tough game. We were playing in their gym against a rival team. The difference was that we fought a bit harder than they did. The loss against The Artland Dragons happened mainly because they fought harder than us, but since then we have fought very hard not losing again.

How much are you looking forward to playing your old team Ratiopharm Ulm? Is it a special game or just an ordinary game?

It is a special game, because its the next game. The teams dont particular like each other and the fans dont either. It is another rival of us as well. Otherwise it is just an ordinary game. I have no personal feelings to what happened in Ulm. I am a professional and have moved on to bigger and better things with Ludwigsburg.

EnBW Ludwigsburg is very talented this season. I dont think that the team has reached its fullest potential. What surprises can we await from the team in the next months?

Hopefully no more surprises. I hope that we can keep winning and be successful so people start expecting us to win.

Kyle Visser was very strong in the last three games and has support under the boards from Quadre Lollis. He is 36, but can still play. How important has he been to the team?

Lollis is very important. He shows that he can still compete at the highest level. He has so much experience and uses it on the court. He doesnt only play physical, but also uses his mind. He is important for the young guys with his play. The young guys can see that it is not only important to be physical and athletic, but also using your head and being smart.

Currently you are averaging 7,8ppg, 4,4rpg and 2,5apg. You are only shooting 35% from the field and 17% from three point land. When will we see the old Kyle Bailey (188-G-82, college: Santa Clara)?

That is a good question. The most important thing is that we are winning. I just need to take advantage of my opportunities when I am shooting. I am becoming more comfortable with my role as captain and leader. You have seen parts of me, but I will get better.

What is your opinion of the Deutsche Bank Skyliners who are in first place?

I dont really know. It is only November and still early. It doesnt matter if you have success now or in March or April, but what counts are the playoffs and doing well. The first two placed teams last season didnt even make the BBL final. It is nice that the Skyliners are playing so well and better than last season.

What can your Santa Clara ex colleague and friend Doron Perkins still achieve? He had a triple double against The New York Knicks in an exhibition game?

He can do anything he wants. He is a hard worker and very athletic. He is very talented, but the difference is that he uses his talent unlike so many other talented guys. He has a goal to reach the NBA. If he continues to work hard then he can reach the NBA in the next years.

How does an off day look like in Ludwigsburg?

I eat Sushi in Stuttgart.

You are also a soccer fan.

Yes I am and it is great that we have same sponsor as VfB Stuttgart.

Who wins a one on one? You or Michael King?

I have to say myself, but we havent played yet. He is a very good player and I think it would be a good game.

You must have played one on one against Domonic Jones?

Yes I have. He is a machine. He is one of the better athletic players that I have ever played together with. He is almost impossible to guard one on one. I would say it would be a tie between us.

What are your feelings to November 9th, 1989, 20 years since the wall fell?

I find it amazing. It is a reminder how the world should be. It is a good thing that the wall came down and is symbolic because it separates groups of people and I think that it is great that walls and segregators are stopped, because in our day and age, we are dealing with global issues and we have to come together and find solutions and not be separated.

What was the last DVD that you saw?

I havent seen one.

I guess you were studying German?

Yes that is right!

Thanks Kyle for the chat. Good luck this season.

Youre welcome.

The Telekom Baskets Bonn Find NBA Veteran Ronald Dupree - by Miles Schmidt-Scheuber
With injuries mounting to key players Vincent Yarbrough, Alex King and Tim Ohlbrecht, The Telekom Baskets Bonn had to react and looked over the pond and found NBA veteran Ronald DuPree (199-F/G-81, agency: Priority Sports, college: LSU). He is a 28 year old 199 cm shooting guard/small forward who lists Allen Iverson as his favorite player and is supposed to compensate the loss of Vincent Yarbrough who will miss several months. 'Dupree is a player that has a similar game to Vincent Yarbrough. He is a player that does the little things correctly in a game and that is why he was able to stay so long in the NBA', stressed Telekom Baskets Bonn coach Michael Koch.

Dupree comes from Biloxi, Mississippi and played at LSU from 1999-2003. In his senior year, he played 32 games averaging15.8ppg, 7.8rpg, 2.4apg. In 2000, he was SEC champion with LSU. He was never drafted in the NBA, but was able tofind the right route to the worlds best league in 2003 and did not leave until 2008. In his five years in the NBA, he played 154 games for times like the Detroit pistons, Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves and the Seatle Supersonics. His biggest success in the NBA was reaching the Eastern Conference finals with the Chicago Bulls in 2007. Last season, he played in the D-League for the
Tulsa 66ers playing 18 games and averaging 19.8ppg, 6.6rpg, 3.7apg, 1.6spg, FGP: 46.8%, 3PT: 31.3%, FT: 69.2%, and then moved to the Utah Flash playing 33 games and averaging 17.3ppg, 7.2rpg, 3.9apg, FGP: 49.2%, 3PT: 27.4%, FT: 79.2%.

Wizards' Mike James out 4-5 weeks with hand injury - by Eurobasket News
Washington Wizards guard Michael James (6'1''-G-75, college: Duquesne) will miss the next four to five weeks after breaking a bone in his left hand. James sustained the injury, officially a fracture of the fourth metacarpal, during Saturday's practice session. The 34-year-old missed the final nine games of last season with a fractured right pinky finger. (Courtesy of www.tsn.ca)

Pistons' Tayshaun Prince out indefinitely with ruptured disk in lower back - by Eurobasket News
Tayshaun Prince (6'9''-F-80, college: Kentucky) will be out indefinitely with a small ruptured disk in his lower back, the Detroit Pistons announced on Saturday. Prince saw his consecutive games started streak come to an end at 496 this week because of the injury.

So far in the young season, he has averaged 12.3 points and five rebounds in three games.

Posted on November 3 - Tayshaun Prince had his impressive streak of consecutive games played come to an end last Tuesday.

Prince sat out the Detroit Pistons matchup against the Orlando Magic with a lower back strain, which ended a run of 496 consecutive games played that dated back to his rookie season. It ranked as the second longest streak among active players.

Weve relied a lot on Tayshaun, Pistons coach John Kuester said. But thats part of the NBA. Weve got to have some other players step up, with Austin (Daye) and Jonas (Jerebko) and DaJuan (Summers) picking up some of the slack.

Which of those players fills that role will change daily based on several factors.

It could be matchups. It could be how theyre practicing, Kuester said. All three of them are going to be very good basketball players in the NBA. Theyve just got to continually work.
They all bring something different to the table.

Kuester said guard Rodney Stuckey also could receive some time on the court at the three spot.

Jerebko has two rebounds in six minutes this season, while Daye has just one minute of playing time. Summers has not played in a regular-season game.

Jerebko started in Princes place Tuesday, marking the first time in NBA history a Swedish player has started a game.

Aleksandar Trifunovic to leave Spartak Saint Petersburg? - by Eurobasket News
According to rumors, it seems that Aleksandar Trifunovic is going to leave the Russian Superleague team Spartak St. Petersburg.
The team opened A Superleague season with four defeats, but despite this Spartak SPB management fully supported the coach to continue with his work. However, it seems that former coach of Euroleague outfits Lietuvos Rytas and Panionios Athens plans to leave the team before the next round as he thinks there is not enough reasons to stay. The rumor says that Trifunovic is very unsatisfied because he did not have a chance to build his team and he signed only one player for the upcoming season, as the team previously refused his request to reinforce the team on guard position. It seems that the latest signing, James White, was the last draw for coach Trifunovic, as the transfer was completed without his knowledge. Some web sites announced new signing a day before the important game against Lokomotiv Kuban sending a clear signal to the players that one of Spartak's Americans will have to leave, which affected the team. It is rumored that coach had meeting with Spartak SPB Management and expressed his decision to leave, if the Club is not ready to give him a green light for making the changes in the roster.
So far nothing is officially confirmed by the club, nor by the coach.

Aska scored 17, Racers fell to Cal - by David Edole
The Murray State Racers opened up the 2009-10 men's basketball season with a 75-70 loss to the California Golden Bears in Berkeley, Calif., at Haas Pavilion.

The Racers battled all night long and showed a lot of determinations when they trimmed an 18-point Cal lead with 12:36 remaining down to five at game's end.

MSU head coach Billy Kennedy was disappointed the Racers couldn't get a win, but was happy with his team's effort.

'I am pleased our guys played hard and gave great effort in this environment,' Kennedy said. 'We came back from 18 down and did some good things against a very good basketball team.'

'We had our opportunities,' Kennedy added. 'But we had a free throw lane violation and gave up an offensive rebound after a missed free throw at the end. We made too many mistakes.'

Indeed, the 12th ranked Bears, who were also playing their season opener, were ready to play.

In the first half, Ivan Aska (201-F-90) scored nine of the first 14 points for the Racers as they built a 14-11 lead at the 13:42 mark.

MSU kept it a close contest with a steal and jumper by Isacc Miles and a three-pointer by Danero Thomas to make it a 28-26 game at 2:51.

The Bears were able to build their largest lead of the half in the final 1:41 when Jerome Randle hit 4-of-5 from the free throw line.

In the second half, MSU got baskets from Danero Thomas and Aska to cut the Cal lead to five with 17:57 remaining, but the Bears responded with two threes and a three-point play to take a 47-31 lead with 15:13 to go.

Aska ended the game with 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting, while B.J. Jenkins tossed in 16 on 6-of-10 shooting. Danero Thomas was the third Racer in double-figures with 12.

Tony Easley had eight rebounds to pace MSU, while Edward Daniel added six.

'B.J. had a great game, especially after not having played for a whole year,' Kennedy said. 'He did some good things and had some good play on the defensive end.'

After holding Cal to a 40 percent clip from the field in the first half, the Bears upped that to 52 percent in the second half.

The Bears also took advantage of getting to the free throw line 32 times where they hit 22 for 68 percent. MSU only made it to the line 15 times where they made 10 for 66 percent.

'We'll get back home and get back to practice,' Kennedy said. 'Overall we did some positive things, but we're not satisfied, we have to get better.'

BBL Team of the Week #7 - by Andy Webb
This weeks Team of the Week features both regulars and newcomers, and is dominated by the Everton Tigers, who had two victories last weekend to get their season back on track. The star performer is Tigers Forward Jerome Gumbs (194-F-82, college: USF). In both games, Gumbs grabbed 10 rebounds as well as putting up 27 points in the first one, a home tie against the Guildford Heat which the Tigers won 84-72, and 35 points in the next one, when the Tigers beat the Newcastle Eagles away from home. He also dished out 4 assists in both outings as well as 5 steals in the game against the Heat.

He is joined by team mate Olu Babalola, as the former Newcastle Eagle notched 23 points, 8 rebounds and 8 steals in the Heat tie, as well as shooting 100% from behind the arc.

This weeks guards are Mike Cook, who now features regularly in the Team of the Week, and Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders standout, Bradd Wierzbicki. Cook, who stands at 64 and plays for the Sheffield Sharks, had a huge 32 points, on 9/12 field goal shooting, and 5/7 from the free throw line, as well as nailing three of his five three point attempts, in the Sharks 97-76 defeat of the Cheshire Jets.

He then bettered this with a 36 point haul at Newcastle the following night, making eleven of his fourteen free throws, and handing out five assists in a full forty minutes of action.

Wierzbicki had an incredible second half in his sides come-from-behind win over the Worcester Wolves on Saturday evening, to finish with 38 points. This was an outstanding performance, especially considering he played out of position at the point guard after his back court partner, Tack Minor, was rushed to hospital with an eye injury in the first half.

At Centre in the Team of the Week number seven, is Tafari Toney, who is having a sensational second season in the league with his new team, the Sheffield Sharks. He second top scored to team mate Mike Cook, as he posted impressive numbers of 19 points, on 9/12 from the field, as well as snatching 12 rebounds.

Dobri Anjeli add Angel McCoughtry, axe Shanna Crossly-Zolman, - by Eurobasket News
Dobri Anjeli decided to shake up their roster after a slow start in Euroleague. The Slovakian powerhouse said bye to Shanna Crossly-Zolman (178-G-83, college: Tennessee). The team was disappointed with her performance and decided to part ways with the player. Dobri Anjeli however quickly found the replacement. They recruited Angel McCoughtry (185-F-86, college: Louisville). The 23-year-old forward signed her first European contract. The Louisville graduate was the top pick in this seasons WNBA Draft. McCoughtry was picked by the Atlanta Dream. She averaged 13.1 points, 3.2 boards, 2.1 assists and 2.1 steals per game in her debut season with the Dream. Angel McCoughtry was named the WNBA Rookie of the Year. Angel McCoughtry helped the USA selection triumph at the Panamerican Games in Rio de Janeiro back in 2007. The talented forward was the member of the US selection that played at the Ekaterinburg Invitational tournament in October. She notched 15.3 points and 7.3 boards in Russia. Dobri Anjeli are not satisfied with the performance of Ekaterina Lisina (198-C-87) and Anastasia Kostaki (172-G-78). The management hopes to see these players improve their game.
