Ramos in as Head Coach ... Wells out .. now new assistant coach - by Sheryl Reyes
Geraldo Ramos ABL season 1 head coach of the Brunei Barracudas is now the head coach once again for them for ABL Season 2 and the current coach Ozell Wells is now his assistant.Last season the very humble coach led the team to a 6-9 record which surprised a lot of people. With three losses in their opening three games under Ozell Wells the Barracudas are last in the league though the Westports KL Dragons have also yet to record a win. But with Ramos reunited with the Barracudas it is not impossible that he can turn around the table and bring wins again for the team.He was the man responsible for barracudas success last year, a man familiar with Brunei basketball and more importantly, the ABL. He was not the team's first choice and opted to hire Wells but finally realized that he is the best coach for the team, a very good move made by the team.

He had a double-double of 30 points and 13 rebounds, while his team crushed Soproni (#11, 1-2) with 16-point margin 94-78. Kormend maintains the 2nd position in Hungarian league. They maintain perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Kormend already had a very good start winning all 3 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Bell had a remarkable four three-pointers out of 8 attempts. He turned to be Kormend's top player in his first season with the team. Boston University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Bell is league's best scorer averaging so far 23.0ppg. Bell is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 12.3rpg) and averages solid 2.3spg and 69.6% FGP.

In the last game Gosa recorded impressive double-double of 27 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Falco-Szova lost that game 80-92 to Albacomp (2-1). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Gosa is a newcomer at Falco-Szova and quickly became the team's new leader.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Ivory Clark (198-F-85) of Szolnoki Olajbanyasz (#6). Clark got into 30-points club by scoring 31 points in the last round. He went also for twelve rebounds . Despite Clark's great performance Szolnok lost 74-77 to Kecskemeti (#1, 3-0). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Szolnok needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 2 victories and 1 lost games. Clark has a great season in Hungary. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.3ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 9.3rpg (8th best).

South Korean KBL round 3 best performance: Herbert Hill - by Eurobasket News
American forward Herbert Hill (203-F-84) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for top-ranked Inchon ET Land Elephants, receiving a Asia-basket.com Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 26-year old player had a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds, while his team crushed Mobis Phoebus (#8, 1-2) with 19-point margin 87-68. It allowed Elephants to take over top position in the South Korean KBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Elephants has a very solid 3-1 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. Hill turned to be Elephants' top player in his first season with the team. Former Providence College star has very solid stats this year. Hill is in league's top in points (7th best: 19.7ppg), rebounds (4th best: 10.3rpg) and averages impressive 2.3bpg and 60.5% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was another Inchon ET Land Elephants' star - 35-year old American Jarod Stevenson (200-F-75). Stevenson had a very good evening with 28 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. It was enough for Elephants to edge Dongbu Promy (2-1) 79-73. The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Stevenson is a newcomer at Elephants, but is already the team's top player. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.0ppg (#6). His other stats are also decent: 8.3rpg and 3.7apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was American center Terrence Leather (204-C-81) of Seoul SK Knights (#6). Leather scored 23 points and grabbed ten rebounds. He was a key player of SK Knights, leading his team to a 84-79 win against Samsung Th. (2-1). SK Knights needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 2 victories and 1 lost games. Leather has a great season in South Korea. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.7ppg (3rd best) and rebounds with 11.7rpg (2nd best).

Leemans' 19 points and 6 rebounds give her Player of the Week award - by Eurobasket News
22-year old swingman Sara Leemans (178-G/F-88) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked Sint Kateline Waver and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 5.
She had the game-high 19 points adding six rebounds and two assists for Sint Kateline in her team's victory, helping them to crush Willebroek (#9, 1-3) with 22-point margin 84-62. Despite this victory Sint Kateline dropped to the 2nd position in Belgian D1. They maintain perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Sint Kateline already had a very good start winning all 3 without losing a single one. It's Leemans' second year at Sint Kateline and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Leemans has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (2nd best: 17.0ppg).

Second best performed player last round was Rhona McKenzie (183-F-76, agency: LBM Management) of DBC Houthalen. She is Canadian-Jamaican forward in her first season at Houthalen. In the last game McKenzie recorded impressive double-double of 11 points and 20 rebounds. It was enough for Houthalen to edge the lower-ranked Deerlijk (#10, 1-4) by 6 points 56-50. This victory allowed Houthalen to move up to 6th position in the standings. Her team lost some distance to top teams. But 2-2 record is not bad and everything may still change. McKenzie is a newcomer at Houthalen and quickly became the team's new leader.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Fannie Vandesteene (176-F-87) of R.Spirou Monceau Charleroi (#7). Vandesteene scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds. She was a key player of R.Spirou Monceau Charleroi, leading her team to a 58-41 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Jeugd Gentson (#8, 2-3). R.Spirou Monceau Charleroi needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 2 victories and 2 lost games. Vandesteene has a very solid season. In 4 games in Belgium she scored 11.5ppg.

The 25-year old guard had the game-high 43 points adding three rebounds and two assists for Strakonice in her team's victory, helping them to beat VS Praha (#10, 0-1) 76-68. It's just the very beginning of the season and Strakonice won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Johnova had a remarkable 72.7% from 2-point range. She has many years of experience at Strakonice, through which he has constantly improved. Johnova has impressive league stats. She is league's best scorer averaging so far 43.0ppg. Johnova is in league's top in and averages solid 4.0spg and 72.7% FGP.

She also registered 17.0 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was Slovakian Nikola Kovalova (168-G-89) of BK Lokomotiva Karlovy Vary (#7). Kovalova showcased her all-around game by recording 21 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the last round. Despite Kovalova's great performance Karlovy Vary lost 73-88 to Frisco Sika (#1, 1-0). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. Karlovy Vary can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 1 games. Too bad for Kovalova she does not play for a better team. But maybe if she did, her season stats would not be that high. The season just started for Kovalova as she played only first game. But it already looks like she can be team's leader.
