Croatia, maybe one of the best places I've ever been - by Corsley Edwards
My name is Corsley Edwards (206-C/F-79, agency: Impact Basketball, college: Cent.Conn.St.), been playing professional basketball since 2002. After being drafted ive traveled the world and even the states. Currently im playing in Croatia for Cedevita Zagreb, maybe one of the best places I've been ever. With that said, its a big statement. The locals, most of them speak english which is a big advantage of playing here. I have not learned a word of Croatian being here for 2 months. Basketball here is similar to the states very competitive. The players are going hard and its not a night off here. My team is good, we play together and we all have the same goal and thats win. Thats what makes it good for a player from the states. My teammates help out with anything im confused with or just don't get. Yesterday was Thanksgiving and we had Pizza and Soda for a teammates birthday. Myself and other Americans on the team was like we have not had a thanksgiving in a long time. So we as Americans we miss a lot of the holidays being here, but we love the game of basketball and must make sacrifices for the love of the game. It was better then going to Mcdonalds and getting a thanksgiving meal haha, I know Coach D from CCSU would love that. Croatian Basketball league has not started yet for my team because of playing in the Adriatic league and Eurocup, But we are doing great. We won the first away game in history of the club in the Eurocup so that was an accomplishment for our team. Ill keep you posted as to what to come in the near future with Cedevita Zagreb.

Game Tonight Blog2 - by Corsley Edwards
Tonight we have a big game for the Adriatic League against KK Zagreb Co. We play in Cibona/KK Zagreb Co home court which is in the same city as Cedevita. Ive been having a rough time the past 3 games played due to the 5 yr anniversary of my father's passing. I feel great today that i prepared myself in order to play this game today, and been focused. My team is pumped for the game tonight and this can put us in first place in the league with the win tonight so all those put ten fingers together for us and we should come out on top. We had a good practice last night, broke a good sweat and got up and down for about an hour, then some bom bom bom as coach would put it.lol Wish us luck tonight, Il give the results later after the game.

Playing basketball for a profession has given me the opportunity to see the world - by Joel Camacho
Good morning Eurobasket and world! My name is Joel Jones Camacho (196-G/F-81, agency: Paris Global Sports, college: Sacramento St.) and I am currently playing in Cyprus with Apollon. I am originally from San Diego, California and attended Sacramento State University. Due to the fact that my mother is from Puerto Rico I am able to play in Puerto Rico as a native which is truly a blessing. I've played 8 seasons there and also have played in China, Germany and Poland. I've played six tournaments with the Puerto Rican national team. Playing basketball for a profession has given me the opportunity to see the world, meet interesting people, and learn about different cultures. Being isolated from loved ones and your normal daily routine can teach you a lot about yourself. It becomes a survival game on and off the court. Off the court normally I am at home, doing my normal grocery shopping and buying food that I'm familiar with. Being able to see and hang out with friends whenever I want and spend the holidays with family. Compared to off the court, over seas you can settle for fast food or take an honest effort to take care of your body and eat right. Going to the grocery store becomes an adventure and a research on certain foods that will benefit your body as an investment towards your performance. Last night for thanksgiving the team was surprised to hear that the management had prepared all the Americans a thanksgiving dinner. We went to a nice restaurant and all thought we were going to eat steak or typical Cyprian food, the waiters began to bring out the food and to our surprise they brought out macaroni and cheese, yams, turkey, bbq ribs, and other appetizers. We all felt at home and had a great time. It was cool because the management here understands that you get what you give out. That reflects on the court just like anything in life. Its like if someone is lazy all summer and doesn't work on their game or body, and they get an offer from lets say a euro league team in Italy, they arrive and start training camp and will definitely not be able to perform at a high level for a long period of time. They will start to be fatigued and eventually could be injured. You reap what you sow. We are currently 4-1 and play on Sunday. We have come together as a team and enjoy playing with each other. Team chemistry is hard to come across when you are over seas due to the fact that sometimes people have their own agendas. We understand its going to be a long season if we don't gel and play as a team. Before I sign off I want to thank all the fans in Puerto Rico for all the support... Once again this is Joel Camacho and thank you for taking the time to check out my blog! Peace!

Maurice Whitfield: I'm disappointed for coach Benacek - by Tomas Boruvka
Former Nymburk point guard Maurice Whitfield offer his view on czech league after eleven played round.

First of all, Maurice, are you professional bball player yet? In case you retired, whats your job?

I am semi retired, I have a construction business and clothing company here in Philadelphia.

You said me, that you are still watching Mattoni NBL. Whats your reason for that?

Every day I check the Mattoni NBL league. Im checking to see how Nymburk is doing and also checking to see how my friends are playing. I'm still a big Nymburk and Novy Jicin fan.

Who is (are) your main candidate (s) on win after 22 rounds?

I am cheering for Novy Jicin and Decin (Big Sanders fan)

Whose team performance are the best after 11 playing rounds according you?

I think that Prostejov and Novy Jicin are playing well but I have a funny feeling that some team maybe Decin will play better later this year.

What's your opinion on rookies Pilsen and Svitavy?

Both Pilsen and Svitavy, will have hard times staying in the first division.

And the biggest disappointment Mattoni NBL for you?

I wouldn't say that Kolin is a big disappointment but I'm disappointed for coach Benacek, I think that he is a great coach and I want better results for him.

Which player is star Mattoni NBL after 11 playing rounds in your opinion?

Best player I would go with Saunders...his team is playing very well....He's not scoring as much as in the past but I think his presence and his leadership is a big reason they are playing so well.

Do you in touch with anyone from Nymburk and czech league?

Through facebook, I am in contact with everyone I played with and a few managers and coaches.

At the end, your stake to winner play-off. Nymburk again? The eighth title for Nymburk?

Yes, I think nymburk will win 4-1 and be crowned champions again;o).

Greetings from Philadelphia

Honza

Seth Tarver had 21 points, seven rebounds and Lance Hurdle added 19 off the bench. Luke Jackson, playing in his first game as a Stampeder since the 2008-09 season totaled seven points, seven assists and nine rebounds. *Courtesy of www.oursportscentral.com

Springfield A. - Maine RC 88-85
Things started easily for the Maine Red Claws, perhaps a bit too easily. The Red Claws began the game with a 9-0 run and led until Scottie Reynolds hit a 3-point shot from the top of the key with two-tenths of a second remaining to lift the Springfield Armor to an improbable 88-85 victory over a team seemingly in control for most of the game. The Red Claws were perhaps as stunned as the crowd of 2,404 at the MassMutual Center for the Armor's home opener, as Springfield came to life during the final three minutes and forced the Red Claws to make mistakes they had not made during the first 45 minutes. 'We turned the ball over way too many times in the final three minutes and let the game slip away,' Red Claws Coach Austin Ainge said. 'They made some good plays, but we just gave it away.' There was shock and disbelief in the Maine locker room, but the Red Claws feel fortunate they are right back here some 141/2 hours after this one ended for a noon game today against the Armor (2-1), who are over the .500 for the first time in franchise history. 'They're a better team (than last season) and you've got to give their defense credit,' Ainge said 'It was a battle.' DeShawn Sims (6'8''-F-88, college: Michigan), who was hit with a key technical foul during Springfield's fourth-quarter comeback, led the Red Claws (1-2) with 15 points. Tiny Gallon and Chamberlain Oguchi (6'6''-G-86, college: Illinois St.) each finished with 14. Reynolds had 30 points and Jerry Smith scored 21 for the Armor, who made 26 of their 35 free throws. *Courtesy of www.pressherald.com

Tulsa 66ers - Iowa E. 111-123
The Tulsa 66ers had four score in double figures and Cole Aldrich posted eight points and four rebounds but were unable to hold off the Iowa Energy, dropping the contest by a 123-111 final Friday evening inside the Tulsa Convention Center. Leading 92-89 heading into the fourth quarter, Iowa outscored Tulsa by a 31-22 margin to take the first victory of the back-to-back set between the two teams. 'Give Iowa credit, they are a great team and they showed it tonight,' Tulsa head coach Nate Tibbetts said. 'Our team will learn from tonight and I expect us to bounce back tomorrow. We showed some positive signs and we will look to build off of those tomorrow.' Larry Owens and Zabian Dowdell each scored 22 points and tallied six assists for the 66ers (1-2), followed by Robert Vaden with 19 points and Tweety Carter with 18 points. Owens added eight rebounds, including six offensive. Othyus Jeffers paced the Energy (4-0) offense with 32 points on 9-17 shooting. Chris Lofton (6'2''-G-86, college: Tennessee) (28) Courtney Sims (6'11''-C-83, college: Michigan) (22), Kyle Weaver (20) and Shy Ely (15) also scored in double digits. *Courtesy of www.oursportscentral.com

  FINLAND

@ CSKA Moscow - by Corey Belser
Just finished lunch here in Moscow (nice steak and pasta with a chocolate dessert), and I am now just chill'n in the hotel room getting anxious for the game tonight, I don't want to sleep, not tired so figured I sign in here!
At the shoot around this morning CSKA walked in the gym as we were getting ready to leave and you could feel the tension! Their head coach Dusko Vujosevic (agency: Beo Basket ) was recently fired after a Euroleague loss to Armani Jeans Milano and they are 1-5 in Euroleauge. No smiles, strictly business for the defending Euroleague champions! They are going come out with a lot of energy and determination to get back to the winning they are used to. I am looking forwarding to my match up with the Alaskan Assassin Trajan Langdon (192-G-76, college: Duke), he still shoots the ball like he did when was at Duke University! I'll probably end up guarding Jamont Gordon (193-G/F-87, college: Mississippi St.) or Ramunas Siskauskas (197-G-78) who I played against before when he play for Panathinaikos Athens in Greece. No easy task no matter what!
For us, coming off a tough road win in the Finnish league. I think we will come out and compete tonight! Keeping in my mind the great advice Steve Burtt (185-G-84, college: Iona), blessed me with! Wish us luck and I Hope everyone had a Happy and Fulfilling Thanksgiving..... X-Mas is just around the corner!! Stay tuned...................Corey Belser (200-F-82, college: San Diego) singing out.

He spoke with eurobasket before the game against Ratiopharm Ulm November 28th

TBB Trier has a three game losing streak at the moment. What have been biggest problems in this streak?

I think we just need to get back what got us off to a decent start which is playing hard on each possession and playing solid defense. Our effort hasnt been where it needs to be at to be successful in the league. We just need to stay positive and play hard at all times.

When there is a losing streak, do you try to do something different on the court or just keep working on improving the weak points?

I think anytime there is a losing streak things come out that havent been talked about before. It is important that we try to stay together within our circle and find a way to bring it together. You try not to change things but at the same time you need to figure out what is different about the way that we are playing.

What has been the main focus in practice this week?

The main focus at practice has been to just get better. We are working on things that we usually work on and just trying to improve. We cant panic too much but at the same time it is a very important game of our long season coming up.

The next game is against Ratiopharm Ulm. How glad are you being at home again?

It is always good to play in front of our crowd here in Trier. I am definently happy to be back at home after being on the road last weekend and playing the way we did.

What has been your impression of Ratiopharm Ulm this season?

Ulm is playing good basketball right now and they have some talented players. They had some trouble earlier this season but are on a good streak.

German national player Per Gunther is starting to find his groove. His size seems not to be giving him problems anymore as he has learned to use it to his strength. How do you stop him best?

Per is playing extremely good right now and he is using his size to his advantage. I think it is important to keep him in front of you and just try and make him do something that he is not comfortable doing.

Ratiopharm Ulm is a scoring machine. What will be key in stopping them on the floor?

I think we need to control the tempo but run when we can. Defense is our key like it has been all season, and that wont change against Ulm either. I just think we have to bring our effort level for a full 40 and not having let ups.

What is your most fond Thanksgiving memory as a kid?

I think just spending time with my family back in California.. Each Thanksgiving was special with my mom in the kitchen and at the Bynum house its just lots of food and falling out on the floor after watching some football.

How will you be celebrating Thanksgiving and what player can eat the most turkey on the team?

As for my Thanksgiving it will be celebrated by a practice at 5 o'clock and then afterwards i got cooking duties along with George Evans, Dru Joyce, and Barry Stewart (dont know what Barry is gonna make) but we are going to make something happen and I think George would eat the most... lol

What was the last DVD movie that you saw?

The last DVD i saw was Lottery Ticket

Thanks John for the chat.

BBC Bayreuth is riding on a 2 game winning streak. What has the club been doing better in these two wins?

Just maintaining focus for 40 mins and finishing off games.

What was the most important lesson learned in the win against TBB Trier?

That when we play hard for 40mins we are really tough to beat!

What has been the main focus in practice this week?

We have been working on Defense we really want to stress defense if we play well on Defense then that gives us a chance to win any game.

The next game is against EnBW Ludwigsburg. What has been your impression of the team this season?

They have a really nice team that likes to push the ball and get the ball inside to there bigs!

You will be playing against Jerry Green. How excited are you about playing him and how do you stop him best?

Well its all ways good to play some of the better point guards in the league, All you can do is try to take away what he likes to do best and make it tough for him.

What will be the key to winning the game?

Defense, Defense, Defense and Defense!!!

What is your most fond Thanksgiving childhood memory?

Just going over to my cousin's house watching the Cowboys play eating and being around family!

How will you be celebrating Thanksgiving this year? Who eats the most turkey on the team?

We had a team dinner this year it was really good, I would have to say Osvaldo Jeanty could eat the most turkey.

Can Allen Iversen become the best player in Europe once he gets used to the style in Europe?

Yes I definately think so but its going to take some time for him to get use to the style of play in Europe, He is off to a slow start but dont worry he will pick it up.

Thanks Danny for the chat.

Derrick Allen (Alba Berlin) Pregame Thoughts To Deutsche Bank Skyliners Game November 28th - by Miles Schmidt-Scheuber

Derrick Allen (203-F-80, agency: Pro One Sports, college: Mississippi) is a 30 yearold 203cm forward that grew up in Gadsen Alabama. In 2004, he ventured to Germany and has played there ever since with two years in Karlsruhe, one year in Leverkusen and he is now starting his third season for The Deutsche Bank Skyliners. In 2006-2007, he led Leverksuen into the playoffs and led the BBL in scoring playing 38 games and averaging 16.5ppg, 7.3rpg, 1.2apg, 1.0spg, 2FGP: 50.6%, 3FGP: 32.3%, FT: 72.2%. In 2007-2008, he was second best scorer in the BBL for Frankfurt playing 43 games and averaging 18.1ppg, 7.3rpg, 1.9apg, 2FGP: 50.4%, 3PT: 36.1%, FT: 75.6%; and playing 10 ULEB Cup games finishing as the third best scorer averaging 19.9ppg, 7.9rpg, 2.0apg, FGP: 54%, 3PT: 28.6%, FT: 72.9%. Last season for Frankfurt, he played 48games: 14.4ppg, 5.5rpg, 1.3apg, FGP: 53.2%, 3PT: 32.4%, FT: 76.2%. He has reached four BBL playoffs in five seasons and played in the 2008 BBL Allstar game. He is playing his firsts eason for Alba Berlin and spoke to Eurobasket prior to game against The Deutsche Bank Skyliners November 28th.

You are now a Alba Berlin player since about 4 months. How quickly has Berlin come like a 3rd home for you on and off the court?

Berlin has been great so far. Its similar too frankfurt, but a bigger city ofcourse. Having my good friend julius jenkins on the team helped me alot. He showed me alot of places. And on the court, im just doing what the coach wants me to do.So the playing part has been the easiest for me so far. But im very happy here.

In Frankfurt, you often had to carry the team, but in Berlin there are like 2 starting fives on the roster. Has it been difficult to adjust to the new playing situation? Your playing only 24 minutes, but playing very efficient.

No it hasnt been hard at all. At the start of the season coach talked about everybody getting playing time and having a well balanced team. So I think i have adjusted well, and im playing my role. We have a very talented, experienced, and deep roster. So it makes things easier for me. But I can still carry this team, on certain nights when I need too.

Alba Berlin has a 7-1 record, but the success seems to be overshadowed by the strong 11-0 start by Bamberg. Alba Berlin is known for their pick and roll play, but what is a strength of the team this season that doesnt get noticed right away?

Bamberg is playing great ball right now, in the BEKO BBL and Euroleague. People look as ALBA as always being Alba at the top of the league, so we have to continue too play with a lot of motivation. But the strong point of this team is that we play together. We have a lot of great character guys, which Alba didnt have last season. and it shows on the court. It reminds me of the frankfurt team last season.

How excited are you about playing The Deutsche Bank Skyliners. How difficult will this game be for you having to control your heart that still has affection for Frankfurt.

Im very excited too play against my old club. But its not about me, its about our team. And both teams want too win to stay at the top of the standings. We wont to continue to stay right behind Bamberg. But it will be weird feelings, and good feelings, because that club was great too me, and I have alot of friends on that team. But it wont be difficult for me, because when the ball goes up, its all about winning and I dont know those guys just like every other game I play.

How impressed have you been with the Deutsche Bank Skyliners this season? Even with injuries, they seem to be able to be in each game.

Im some what impressed, but I say that, because Gordie is a great coach and motivator for the guys there. He gives them confidence too play. Jimmy McKinney is playing great for them and they have a lot of confidence and the managment has a down a great job who fit into the team and their budget.

The Deutsche Bank Skyliners had the number of Alba Berlin last season. What will be eky in winning this game?

Frankfurt will come in with a lot of confidence, because they won here last year, and I was on that team. But this year teams are different for Alba and Frankfurt. We have slow frankfurt transition game down. Woods the point guard is very fast andthey have great guard play, and we have to control Mckinney and Robertson. Inside, we gotta keep Marius Nolte off the glass and limit the touches of Dabbert close in the paint.

What is your most fondest childhood Thanksgiving memory?

Just being home with family and friends. Eating my moms cooking, and watching football all day. Thanksgiving has always been a great holiday for me.

What Alba Berlin player eats the most Turkey?

I dont know. Maybe Mcelroy does.... lol..

Will Allen Iversen become the best player in Europe once he gets used to the playing style?

Hmmm, thats a tough question, because you cant say that, even if he plays his full 2 year contract out in Turkey. But I think he is the biggest star and most talented player to come too Europe in sometime.. But the more he gets in shape, tthe better he will play. He's a future hall a famer and man, we sitting here talking about practice... lol

Thanks Derrick for the chat.

Market news - by Tamas Deri
The management of MJUS-Fortress Kormend and Bennet Davis (206-F-84, agency: KMG Sports Management, college: Northeastern) agreed to part ways. The 206 cm tall power forward agreed with the club at the end of September and arrived to the club only a week before the regular season started. In 8 games he spent 20.3 minutes on the court and averaged 9.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
The team found already a replacement: Emmanuel Dies (204-F/C-77, agency: Interperformances, college: Kansas St.) agreed with the club and might be the new big man of the club after a succesfull tryout-period. Dies is a well known player in our country and also in Kormend. After graduating on the University of Kansas State Dies signed his first pro contract with Kormend in 1999 but got fired only after 3 games. Since than he played in Argentina, China, Luxemburg, Sweden, Poland, CBA and Mexico. In November 2008 he signed with Sopron and played 27 games averaging 12.7 points and 6.9 rebounds. In January 2010 agreed with Falco KC and helped the team with 13.5 points and 6.3 rebounds in 17 games. This season he spent 3 weeks in Jordan.

The leading scorer of the leauge, Robert Jarvis (180-G-87, college: ORU) parted ways with Salgotarjan and signed with Sopron for the rest of the season because of the injury of Charles Brooks (191-G-82, college: Niagara). The 180 cm tall guard started the season very well with the newcomer club as he averaged 25.0 points, 2.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game.

Jason Richardson (6'6''-G-81, college: Michigan St.) scored 29 points, reserve Hakim Warrick (6'9''-F-82, college: Syracuse) had a season-high 25 and the Phoenix Suns kept the Los Angeles Clippers winless on the road with a 116-108 victory on Friday night. The victory was the Suns' ninth in a row over the Clippers and extended their home winning streak against Los Angeles to seven. No visiting Pacific Division team other than the Los Angeles Lakers has left US Airways Center with a win since April 17, 2007 -- a total of 27 games. Besides the Clippers, the Suns have won 10 straight at home against both Sacramento and Golden State. Steve Nash added 16 points and 10 assists for the Suns, Channing Frye scored 16 with four 3-pointers and Grant Hill had 12. Eric Gordon topped the Clippers with 32 points, Ryan Gomes had a season-high 20, and Blake Griffin had 20 points and 14 rebounds. Brian Cook had 16 points and 10 rebounds in the Clippers' eighth consecutive road loss of the season and their 12th straight over two years. *Courtesy of www.kpho.com

Utah Jazz - LA Lakers 102-96
Deron Williams (6'3''-G-84, college: Illinois) scored 29 points and Andrei Kirilenko grabbed two key rebounds late as the Utah Jazz rallied from a 19-point first-half deficit for a 102-96 win over a Los Angeles Lakers team that swept them out of the playoffs last season. Williams tied the score at 96 with 1:16 remaining on a 3-pointer, then stole the ball and passed to Raja Bell (6'5''-F/G-76, agency: Interperformances, college: Florida Intern.) for what proved to be the game-winner. Ron Artest and Paul Gasol both missed shots late for the Lakers (13-3), which saw their five-game winning streak end. The Jazz won their fourth straight to improve to 12-5. *Courtesy of www.startribune.com

Memphis G. - Golde State W. 116-111
The experiment of bringing O.J. Mayo (6'5''-G-87, college: USC) off the bench is turning into a winning formula for the Memphis Grizzlies. Rudy Gay (6'9''-F/G-86, college: Connecticut) scored 25 points, Mayo provided a spark for the second unit with 23, and the Grizzlies withstood a late rally to beat the Golden State Warriors 116-111 on Friday night. Mayo, who served in a reserve role for the third straight game, shot 8 of 14, including 2 of 5 outside the arc. Memphis has won a season-high three straight, all with Mayo coming off the bench. *Courtesy of www.cbssports.com

Detroit P. - Milwaukee B. 103-89
Rodney Stuckey (6'4''-G-86, college: E.Washington) had 18 points and seven assists, Richard Hamilton (6'7''-G-78, college: Connecticut) contributed 15 points and nine assists and the Detroit Pistons beat the Milwaukee Bucks 103-89 on Friday night. Charlie Villanueva added 15 points and eight rebounds for Detroit, which had seven players score in double figures. Brandon Jennings had 25 points and six assists for Milwaukee, which lost its fifth straight. Jennings driving lay-in cut the Bucks' deficit to nine points, 73-64, with 46.1 seconds left in the third. But Hamilton's jumper with 32.2 seconds left pushed Detroit's advantage back into double digits. Stuckey was called for his fifth foul with 6:28 left in the third period. *Courtesy of www.cbsnews.com

Miami Heat - Philadelph.76 99-90
For the first time in a week, the Miami Heat had something to celebrate. Never mind that it came against the worst team in the Eastern Conference - it was a win, and these days, that's something for the Heat to savor. Dwyane Wade (6'4''-G-82, college: Marquette) had 23 points, eight assists and six rebounds, LeBron James (6'8''-F-84) added 20 points and the Heat pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat the Philadelphia 76ers 99-90 on Friday night, snapping a three-game slide and ensuring that they wouldn't be officially mediocre - .500 - after the first month of the season. 'Not the prettiest game for us all the way through,' Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. 'But it was an important game to bounce back, and just remember what it was like to win.' Chris Bosh scored 18 points and Carlos Arroyo had a season-high 17 for Miami, which struggled for large stretches against a Philadelphia team that's won only once in 10 road outings. James had eight rebounds and six assists and Arroyo made three of four tries from 3-point range, pushing him to a gaudy 13-for-20 in that department this season. Miami led by only two entering the fourth, then started the final period on a 12-2 run to build enough of a cushion. *Courtesy of www.miamiherald.com

Indiana P. - Oklah.City T. 106-110 OT
Kevin Durant (6'9''-G/F-88, college: Texas) watched Russell Westbrook (6'3''-G-88, college: UCLA) carry the Oklahoma City Thunder for most of the game, then took over at the end. Westbrook scored a career-high 43 points, Durant had 11 of his 25 in the final two minutes and overtime, and the Thunder rallied for a 110-106 overtime victory over the Indiana Pacers on Friday night. The Thunder trailed by 14 points early in the third quarter and by five with 2:02 remaining in regulation. 'We were rewarded for our hard work and perseverance,' Durant said. 'It was a good win for us tonight. Tonight was one of those games where had to grind it out.' Down 64-50 early in the third quarter, the Thunder fought back with an 11-0 run. 'I think the guys did a great job hanging in there,' Thunder coach Scott Brooks said. 'You like to hear words like tough and scrappy. Our team is improving in those daily.' Durant's three-point play tied it at 96 with 45 seconds remaining in regulation. His running 5-footer gave the Thunder a 104-103 lead in overtime, and his leaning 12-footer on the ensuing possession made it 106-103 with 23 seconds remaining. Durant also had a blocked shot, two steals and eight rebounds, and Brooks said his defense was as critical late as his offense. 'I don't look at his shooting,' Brooks said. 'I see what he's doing all around. Kevin Durant wants to be a special player, and special players have to be two-way players.' Indiana lost despite balanced scoring with five players in double figures, including 30 points from Danny Granger. *Courtesy of www.cbssports.com

San Antonio S. - Dallas M. 94-103
The San Antonio Spurs were going to lose eventually. But the Dallas Mavericks seemed to enjoy being the ones who finally ended their four-week unbeaten streak more than most. Dirk Nowitzki (6'11''-F-78) scored 26 points and the Mavericks ended San Antonio's winning streak at 12 games, beating the Spurs 103-94 on Friday night. It was just the second loss of the season for the Spurs, who had been perfect in November. The last time the Mavs were in San Antonio was April - when their season ended in Game 6 in their first-round series to the Spurs, after Dallas entered as the heavily favored No. 2 seed in the West. *Courtesy of www.comcast.net

Orlando M. - Cleveland C. 111-100
Dwight Howard (6'10''-C/F-85) led a balanced attack with 23 points and 11 rebounds, as the Orlando Magic handled the Cleveland Cavaliers, 111-100, at Amway Center. Jameer Nelson (6'0''-G-82, college: St.Joseph's) added 20 points and six assists for the Magic, who have won two in a row and six of seven overall. J.J. Redick tallied 15 points and five assists for Orlando, which got 14 points apiece from Quentin Richardson and Rashard Lewis. Antawn Jamison finished with 22 points and seven rebounds off the bench for the Cavaliers, who have lost six of eight. Mo Williams had 20 points and eight assists. *Courtesy of www.wkyc.com

Charlotte B. - Houston R. 99-89
Gerald Wallace (6'7''-F-82, college: Alabama) overcame a poor shooting night to score 21 points and grab 14 rebounds, Boris Diaw (6'8''-F/C-82) added 20 points and 10 boards, and the Charlotte Bobcats beat the slumping Houston Rockets 99-89 on Friday night to snap a two-game losing streak. Stephen Jackson scored 16 points and his 3-pointer with 2:41 left put Charlotte ahead 93-82 as it recovered from an 11-point, first-half deficit. Chase Budinger scored 19 points off the bench and Kevin Martin added 16, but they combined to shoot 12 of 32 from the field for the Rockets, who lost for the fifth time in six games as they play without the injured Yao Ming and Aaron Brooks. With owner Michael Jordan sitting courtside, the Bobcats dominated the second half behind the versatile Diaw, who hit 9-of-14 shots. He made up for Wallace's 6-of-21 night. *Courtesy of Yahoo

Boston C. - Toronto R. 110-101
The night was a double blow for the Toronto Raptors — a loss to the Boston Celtics and the loss of hardworking forward Reggie Evans (6'8''-F/C-80, college: Iowa). Kevin Garnett (6'10''-F-76, agency: Pro Management Agency) had 26 points and 11 rebounds, Shaquille O'Neal added 16 points and nine boards, and the Celtics avenged a loss to Toronto by beating the Raptors 110-101 on Friday. Evans was helped to the Toronto bench midway through the third quarter, and Raptors coach Jay Triano said after the game that Evans had broken his right foot. *Courtesy of www.680news.com

Portland TB - N.Orleans H. 78-97
The New Orleans Hornets returned to their winning ways by re-establishing their defense. Reserve Willie Green (6'4''-G-81, college: Detroit Mercy) scored 13 of his 19 points in the first half, Trevor Ariza (6'8''-F-85, agency: David Lee services, college: UCLA) added 18, and the Hornets got back on track with a 97-78 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night Chris Paul had 16 points and 13 assists for the Hornets, who got off to one of the best starts in the NBA but had dropped two of their previous three games on a West Coast road trip. The Hornets had given up an average of 102 points in those two losses, including an ugly 105-87 defeat at Utah Wednesday. New Orleans clamped down on Portland, holding the Blazers to 39.5 percent shooting and a season-low point total. ''That's a credit to our team D,'' Paul said. ''At point we got 11 of 12 stops. (Defense) is who we are. That's our identity.'' Brandon Roy scored 27 points, leading the Blazers in his return from a sore knee that kept him out three games. LaMarcus Aldridge added 14 points and nine rebounds for the Blazers, losers of four of their last six. No other Blazer scored in double figures. *Courtesy of www.comcast.net

Denver N. - Chicago B. 98-97
Carmelo Anthony (6'8''-F-84, college: Syracuse) made a jumper as time expired and the Denver Nuggets, after blowing a 19-point, third-quarter lead, came back to beat the Chicago Bulls 98-97 on Friday night. Anthony finished with 22 points, including his 14th career game-winner. Nene added 18 points and Ty Lawson (5'11''-G-87, college: N.Carolina) had 17. C.J. Watson led the Bulls with 33 points and Luol Deng had 24. Joakim Noah added 17 points and 16 rebounds. Both teams played without their starting point guards. Chicago's Derrick Rose had a sore neck, apparently from having slept on it wrong the night before. Denver's Chauncey Billups missed a second consecutive game since spraining his right wrist and breaking his nose in last Saturday's game against New Jersey. *Courtesy of www.startribune.com

SOL one game away from SUPER FINAL title - by Santiago Maciel
A very defensive game was the tactical profile of game 2. Both teams came ready to limit the offensive production of both best players. Sol has been doing it so for habit since 3rd NATIONAL LEAGUE finals wearing down Gregory Lewis (198-F-78, agency: Dream Team Management, college: Winthrop) and Guillermo Araujo. Against Libertad they limited the production of Roberto Laratro (196-C-83, college: Gettysburg), Elias Sosa and Richard Ozuna to the lowest. Neither Daniel Perez (190-G/F-84) nor Blanckson are obviously enough to produce in offense by themselves.
Last thursday Libertad changed line up introducing Daniel Ocampos (G-58) and Diego Bareiro (195-F/C-91) from the beggining. Bareiro did an outstanding job defending Ronald Selleaze (197-F-76, agency: Dream Team Management, college: CSU Bakersfield) at least the 3 first quarters. Ocampo could not do too much in offense but lowered down Gustavo Torres (175-G-80) offense production.
The score ended up very low 67-62 favorable to Sol de America. It was not too much the difference. All game long both teams were close to one another. Libertad got in the lead twice, first 2 point ofthe game and then late in fourth quarter but for a few seconds only. A three point hit by Edison Ortiz from the left corner destroyed all Libertad pretension to grab game two and secure the chance to extend the series until 4th game at least.
It was not the best game of both, however Sol's big three did their damage as usual, Torres, Selleaze and Fabio netted 52 points combined out of the 67 Sol scored.
In Libertad Perez, Bareiro (19 years), and Ryan Blanckson had a good performance for the white and black stripes team.
STATS:
Libertad: Daniel Perez (190-G/F-84) 20 , Richard Ozuna 2, Daniel Ocampos (G-58)ss, Diego Bareiro 11 , Ryan Blackson 17,: Elias Sosa 8, Alexis Benitez, Roberto Laratro (196-C-83, college: Gettysburg) 2 , Gustavo Paniagua 2. Coach: Luis Orono

Sol de America: Gustavo Torres 19 , Sergio Aceval 3, Renzo Ferrari, Ronald Selleaze 17 , Jose Fabio (198-F-77) 16, Aldo Acosta (192-F-76) 9 y Edison Ortiz 3. Coach: Juan Pablo Feliu.

Final: Libertad 62 (16+18+18+10) - Sol de America 67 (12+18+21+16).

Refs: Fernando San Pietro, Juan Fernndez (AR) y Carlos Gonzalez (PY).

  ANGOLA - Women

16th ACCW: Interclube is champion - by Olusegun Ikuesan
Interclube basketball club of Angola Saturday became the new Queen of Africa Club competition when she defeated two time champion, Grupo Despotivo basketball club of Mozambique in the grand finale of the 16th edition of the biggest club competition for Women by 77-63 points.

The ageless Irene Guerreiro inspited Angolan side proved a hard nut to crack when they curtail the more experienced Mozambican side to the African Women Club title in Bizerta, Tunisia.

Playing a better defense Interclube took a halftime lead of 39-35 points and held on to the lead in the third quarter with a 56-52 points going into the last quarter.

Interclube further stressed the lead in early in the fourth quarter to 63-55 points but the Mozambican side led by American-born Yolanda Jones returned fire for fire as they pour in 10 points against the Angolan two to bring scores to 65-60 with few minutes left in the game.

Determined to wade off the stiff opposition from the 2007 and 2008 champion, Interclube mounted pressure on the offense and defense bringing scores to 72-62 points with less than two minutes left in the game and eventually won the game at 77-63 points.

Irene Guerreiro (172-F-70)

16th ACCW: Despotivo confront Interclube in Grand Finale - by Olusegun Ikuesan
Two FIBA Africa Zone-6 clubs, Grupo Despotivo basketball club of Mozambique and Interclube basketball Club of Angola will take to the court in the grand finale of the 16th edition of the FIBA Africa Champions Cup for Women in Bizerta, Tunisia.

Grupo Despotivo basketball winner in 2007 on home soil and 2008 in Kenya stopped former champion, First Bank basketball club by a whopping 79-51 points in the second semi-final on Friday night while Interclube of Angola put paid to the ambition of 2009 runner-up, Abidjan Basket Club of Cote dIvoire by 64-47 point to set up a grand finale clash against the two time champion of the continent biggest women club competition.

An interesting part of todays final is the never say-die attitude of Africa oldest woman basketball player, Interclube of Angola inspirational player, 40-year-old Irene DaConceicao Inacio GUERREIRO whose consistency on the court is unrival.

Guerreiro, mother of three kids has proven that basketball grows with age for both club and country.

Other key players expected to provide more support for Guerreiro against Grupo Despotivo includes Catarina Juliana Camufal, Sonia Sebastiao Guadalupe, Ngiendula Makananu Filipe and Neusa Correia Afonso.

Grupo Despotivo on it part will line some great players of African dissent who will bank on their form to snatch a third title.

Such players include Cameroon Belle Alvine Mendeng Bedihoue who is a key member of Cameroon national team, Anabela Adriana Cossa, Catia Salmira Halar, Diara Ahomed Dessai and Leia Tania do Bastiao Dongue making todays final an interesting game to watch.

The final game between Grupo Despotivo and Inclube hold at 17H00 while the third place game between 2009 finalist, First Bank basketball of Nigeria and Abidjan Basketball Club (ABC) of Cote dIvoire holds at 15H00.
