MORISSON -BROXSIE SAVES THE DAY, SATRIA MUDA GET'S THEIR FIRST WIN 88-83 - by Sheryl Reyes
Marcus Morrison (198-G/F-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) and Anton Broxie Satria Muda's imports has finally recieved help from their team to be able to get their first win for the season. Marcus Morrison has consistently played well since day one and has been the scoring machine of the team , however it is difficult to play and win alone , He is a high energy player that make others around him look better. He is a great teammate an easy to coach Marcus Morrison brings his game every night. He is a double double player each game

The Singapore Slingers were very aggressive in the 1st quarter. They made fast passes and were very focus both defensively and offensively. The 1st quarter was exciting as both teams made no mistakes to make sure they were on top of the game. Singapore Slingers took the early lead and the quarter ended with the score of 22 18.

Antoine Broxsie (209-F-79, college: Oklahoma St.) played very well in the 2nd quarter making no mistakes. Both teams fought closely in the 2nd half and this ended the quarter with a score of SatriaMuda 20 22 Singapore Slingers. In the 3rd quarter, with Morrison already warmed up and contributing to his team, the Singapore Slingers however still manage to maintain their lead at 34-30.

It was then a very exciting and crucial 4th quarter when SatriaMuda really stepped up to equalize the game to 77-77 which led to overtime. With 5 mins in extra time, Slingers had a few turnovers and Satria made no mistake in taking full advantage of them taking the lead for the first time with a free throw to lead at 78-77.

Marcus Morrison contributed 21 points and 13 rebounds in the game. Anthony Broxsie contributed 20 points and 17 rebounds. The two import stand out have proven that with hard work and a never say never attitude winning won't be a problem. Kristo Saage shoots down Kalev/Cramo - by Janar Filippov
An amazing evening in Rakvere saw Kristo Saage (184-G-85) shooting 8 three-pointers and leading BC Rakvere Tarvas to somewhat surprising victory 90:88 on overtime against BC Kalev/Cramo. Besides game-high 26 points, Saage stole the ball from Gregor Arbet with couple of seconds left in overtime, securing the victory and a party for more than thousand of home fans.
Kalev/Cramo, the leader of Gr4S Meistriliiga until yesterday, led the game 80:76 with 3 minutes left in 4th quarter. A three-poiinter by Joosep Pokla took Tarvas within a single point and with 34 seconds left, Saage hit a triple to take the game to overtime.
In overtime, it was Saage again, who delivered for Tarvas. With 1.43 left to play, he made his 8th triple (marking an Estonian record since the three-point line was moved to 7 meters), taking Tarvas ahead 88:83. But with 15 secs left, Joosep Toome made it 90:89. Joosep Pokla was forced to go to charity stripe and missed one of two but Kalev/Cramo could not make a shot to either even or win the game.
Saage had 26+6rbs+3ast, Pokla 21+12rbs, Brett McGee 14 and Renato Lindmets 13 pts. Gert Dorbek had 20pts for Kalev/Cramo, Toome added 19 and Tanel Sokk 18pts+7rbs+10ast.

ProB: Round 6 review - by Eurobasket News
It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in ProB, but even now we can clearly see differece between stronger teams and outsiders.
No.1 Evreux's defeated much lower ranked Antibes on the road by 21 points 81-60. The biggest contributor to a victory was Philippe Da Silva with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists and Calvin Watson helped with 20 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Milos Bojovic who recorded 21 points. Evreux maintain first position, which they will share with Dijon. Antibes dropped to seventh place with three games lost. They will share it with Chalons-Reims, Fos Ouest and Boulazac. Antibes will play next round against Bourg trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Evreux will try to continue on it's current victory against ninth ranked Chalons-Reims.
Another exciting game where seventh ranked Rouen (4-2) edged by two points 11th ranked Bourg (2-4) 76-74. Superleague Round 2 - by Eurobasket News
There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of Regular Season in Superleague. There was a change at the Superleague leadership position after last games. Dinamo Tbilisi were badly beaten at home by MIA Tbilisi who outscored them by 55 points 66-121. Soso Shermadini scored 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Troy Cotton helped with 23 points. The best for the losing side was Irakli Alkhanaidze with 22 points and 5 rebounds. That victory allowed MIA Tbilisi (2-0) to take over a leadership position. They share it with Energy Rustavi and TSU Tbilisi. Dinamo Tbilisi (1-1) on the other side went down to fourth place as they recorded their first loss. Dinamo Tbilisi will play next round against GSAU Tbilisi trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi GSAU Tbilisi. MIA Tbilisi will try to continue on it's current victory especially that they will have a break next round.
Very significant was Kutaisi's (#10) 82-78 road victory against bottom-ranked Army. Buba Kvimsadze notched 24 points to lead the effort and Avtandili Lominashvili accounted for 17 points and 7 rebounds. Even 17 points and 6 rebounds by Kote Tugushi did not help to save the game for Army. It was the only win of guest team this round and in all other games host teams recorded victories. That victory allowed Kutaisi (1-1) to climb to fourth place. They share it with Dinamo Tbilisi, GSAU Tbilisi and Sokhumi. Another loss means that Army is still at the bottom of the standings as they recorded their first loss. Army will play next round against GTU Tbilisi trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Kutaisi will try to continue on it's current victory especially that they will have a break next round. It will be extra interesting game as is their local rival from Tbilisi.
A very interesting was a derby match of two local teams TSU Tbilisi (#5) and Sokhumi (#4). Despite it looked like an easy game for TSU Tbilisi, those rules do not exist in derby games. It's more the case of honor for local supporters and such games have that special and unique approach you cannot find in other games. How else can you describe just one point victory of TSU Tbilisi 94-93. The best player for the winner was Mikheil Panchulidze who had 32 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Lasha Parghalava who recorded 16 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists. That victory allowed TSU Tbilisi (2-0) to take over a leadership position. They share it with Energy Rustavi and MIA Tbilisi. Sokhumi (1-1) on the other side went down to fourth place as they recorded their first loss. TSU Tbilisi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Samedicino.
And what about a derby match of two local teams GSAU Tbilisi (#8) and Samedicino (#11). Samedicino was defeated at home 57-63. George Khaniashvili orchestrated the victory with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. That victory allowed GSAU Tbilisi (1-1) to climb to fourth place. They share it with Dinamo Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Sokhumi. Another loss means that Samedicino is still at the bottom of the standings as they recorded their second loss. GSAU Tbilisi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Dinamo Tbilisi.

In the last game of round 2 winless GTU Tbilisi lost to undefeated Energy Rustavi on the opponent's court 86-91.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 21 points and 7 rebounds by Talba Toudjani of Energy Invest Rustavi

Last season, he averaged 13.5ppg, 3.2rpg, 2.3apg, FGP: 47.1%, 3PT: 33.6%, FT: 83.5%. Chase spoke to eurobasket shortly before the famous Hessen derby

The Giessen 46ers won a overtime battle in Duesseldorf 94-89. How much energy did this win take?

A lot. From the get go, everyone could sense it was going to be a battle. Dusseldorf is much more talented than their record shows and will very soon get their first win. They have athletes at every position and we knew we'd have our hands full. That being said, it was great for us to pull out an overtime win on the road.. Another great learning experience for our young team.

When is Duesseldorf going to win. They were close against Giessen in winning their first game. Does it seem to be lacking chemistry?

Like I stated earlier, their first win will come in the near future. They completed their roster just a few days before the season, so its a working process for them. Come the second half of the season, they will be feared.

The Giessen 46ers have a 5-2 record. How much of this fantastic start is credited to coach Vladi Bogojevic?

He's the head coach and runs the ship, so he deserves much of the credit. In the pre-season this team really struggled, and if your going to struggle, thats the time to do it. We clicked and are almost working on all cylinders at the right time. But there's always room for improvement, and Vlady reminds us of that every day. One would have to agree that the Giessen organization really did their homework over the summer getting this caliber of talent.

How relient are the Giessen 46ers on the PSB (powerful scoring boys) of Peacock, Brooks and Smith?

The PSB.. haha, thats good. These guys can play! The most refreshing aspect to this trio is that they are all eager to get to the gym for practice and get better. They work hard, listen to what the coaches say, and apply it to the court. Mix that with how talented each one is and there's potential of creating a monster. So far this year, they produce 45-50 ppg for us, so I would say we are quite reliant on them.

How do you like playing in Giessen. Are they any big differences to Hagen?

I like playing in Giessen more and more each day. It's always difficult coming in to an organization late (Except for maybe Brett Favre). So every day, I continue developing relationships with my team, coaches and friends off the court. There are a plethora of differences between the two organizations and city's. To name a couple, on the court, I think the most obvious difference is that we are winning.. Last year was a struggle. Second, there is a mutual respect flowing through this team.. Everyone has each other's back. Off the court, the biggest difference is that Giessen is a University city. There are a lot of people my age running or biking around, which makes for an enjoyable environment.

OIn Saturday is the Hessen derby against Frankfurt. It will be the second place team against the third place team. How excited are you?

Very excited.. We all are anticipating a great environment in Frankfurt. We have had a couple days to prepare for a Frankfurt team with many weapons, but I think we are ready and will put on a nice show.

The Deutsche Bank Skyliners are on a 4 game winning streak and have much confidence. What will be key in winning the game?

The key to winning the game is us.. Concentrating on us. We need to take the things that we have been doing well and continue doing them well. If we take care of our own responsibilities, we know we have the talent to pull out a W in Frankfurt.

How far is Rajon Rondo from becoming the best point guard in the NBA?

From my standpoint, he is the best.. What did he have the other day? 10, 10, and 26, or somewhere in that ballpark.. We are used to hearing 26, 10 and 10, but what he's doing is nuts.

What was the last DVD movie that you saw?

Avatar.. Can't get enough of that goodness!

Thanks Chase for the chat.

Exclusive: Stanley Robinson Joins Ironi Ashkelon - by David Pick
Only four months after signing a non-guaranteed deal with the Orlando Magic, the high flying second-round draft pick, Stanley Robinson (206-F-88), has signed with the southern Israeli team, Ironi Ashkelon.

The former Huskie, who was selected by the Magic with the 29th overall pick, was recently cut from the team's finals roster. Playing for Connecticut as a senior, Robinson averaged 14.5 ppg and grabbed 7.6 rpg in 34 minutes. Giving NBA teams a good preview of just how dynamic a player he can be at the next level, earning comparisons to NBA All-Star, Gerald Wallace, of the Charlotte Bobcats.

Physically, Robinson remains an elite athlete with outstanding length and good size for the combo-forward position. He is to join former NBA champion Gabe Pruitt, and is expected to replace one of the following, Tim Pickett (17.3 points in 27 minutes) or Desmon Farmer (7.3 points in 19 minutes).

Sweet revenge for Fuerza Regia - by Carlos Chapa
With some of its players getting season-highs in different categories, Fuerza Regia Monterrey managed to beat Panteras de Aguascalientes with a final score of 84-96, the win had a vendetta-like flavour for the local team from Monterrey, since last week they were beaten by the same Panteras team.

In the start of the game it looked like Ricardo Melendez would have one of those hot-shooting nights, the Puerto Rican guard had 9 points in the first frame, taking advantage on some bad plays made by Alphonse Dyer and Jerome Habel, both centers did not have a good game.

Despite missing all his three-point shots, Mitchell Johnson gave one of his best performances so far, recording 14 units and giving rare displays of emotion that ignited the players on the floor and the patrons gathered in the stands.

In the third period Aguascalientes switched to a zone defense, which allowed some mismatches well exploited by big men like Jeremis Smith, who had a season-high 30 points, including a spectacular one-handed alley-oop and 10 fouls commited against him, Smith is the LNBP's leader in received fouls.

Mike Mitchell had a season-high in assists, he had 8. Samuel Bowie had 24 points and Ricardo Melendez finished with 23.

Spurs waive Bobby Simmons, sign Chris Quinn - by Eurobasket News
The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they have signed point guard Chris Quinn (6'2''-G-83, agency: Priority Sports, college: Notre Dame). Per team policy, terms of the deal are not disclosed. At the same time, the Spurs announced that Bobby Simmons (6'7''-F/G-80, agency: Priority Sports, college: Florida St.) has been placed on waivers.

Quinn (#11, 62, 175, 9/27/83) has appeared in 193 regular season games in his four-year NBA career, averaging 5.2 points, 2.1 assists and 1.2 rebounds in 15.2 minutes per game, while shooting .390 (150-385) from three-point range. He enjoyed his best campaign during the 2007-08 season, averaging 7.8 points, 3.0 assists and 2.0 rebounds per game in 22.3 minutes of play, including 25 starts for the Heat.

Originally signed as a free agent out of Notre Dame by Miami in 2006, Quinn was traded by the Heat to the Nets on January 5, 2010. He appeared in two preseason games with the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2010 preseason.

Simmons originally signed with the Spurs as a free agent on September 25, 2010. He had appeared in two games in the regular season.

NBA fines Cats' Jackson $50,000 - by Eurobasket News
The NBA fined Charlotte Bobcats guard Stephen Jackson (6'8''-F-78, college: Butler Co.CC) $50,000 on Saturday for verbally abusing the referees after a loss to Detroit a night earlier, another strong indication the league is serious about curtailing complaining.

Jackson was hit with a technical foul by referee Steve Javie late in the third quarter Friday, complaining he was fouled on a made basket. The fine was for his actions after the Pistons finished off a 97-90 victory.

'After the game, he made inappropriate comments towards the game officials,'' NBA spokesman Tim Frank said, declining to give further details.

Jackson, who normally doesn't speak to reporters before games, declined to comment about 45 minutes before Charlotte played Orlando on Saturday. But he was clearly upset as he warmed up, shaking his head as he told Magic guard Mickael Pietrus of the fine.

The penalty comes as the NBA is cracking down on demonstrative actions by players - with Jackson one of the league's targets.

Charlotte coach Larry Brown said Jackson flailing his arms was one of the first examples in a video distributed to teams before the season. Jackson has struggled with the new crackdown, getting called for two technical fouls in five games.

Trail Blazers sign Sean Marks to one-year contract - by Eurobasket News
The Trail Blazers on Saturday signed Sean Marks (6'10''-F-75, college: California) to a one-year non-guaranteed contract and he will be in uniform tonight at the Rose Garden when the team hosts the Toronto Raptors.

Marks was one of five players who worked out for the Blazers Friday and the team decided his mix of experience and ability was best suited for their needs in the front court. Marks, a 6-foot-10 forward/center, has averaged 3.0 points and 2.3 rebounds in 10 seasons with Toronto, Miami, San Antonio, Phoenix and New Orleans.

We need a guy that can step in right now and give you a few minutes, coach Nate McMillan said. And we just felt like he was the right guy.

And Marks very well might play tonight. The Blazers only healthy center, Marcus Camby, came down with a migraine headache Friday and when he showed up to the teams practice facility with lingering effects at Saturday mornings shootaround, the Blazers immediately sent him home.

Camby is listed as questionable for tonights game.

Marks, who will wear uniform No. 4, went through a crash course in the Blazers sets during and after shootaround on Saturday and pronounced himself ready to play if called upon.

Ive got to be, Marks said. If they need me, Ive got to be ready to go.

Its been a memorable week for Marks. In addition to his new job, his third son, Owen, was born four days ago.

Marks opened the season with the Washington Wizards, hopeful of making the team during training camp. But a nagging right hamstring injury limited him throughout camp and he was released. He left Washington for his home in Southern California and had remained there until he received the call from the Blazers requesting a workout.

Marks said his hamstring is healthy and hes ready for his new unexpected challenge with the Blazers.

I think ultimately (Im) another body, Marks said. We all know theyre a little short-handed now with injuries. So Ive got to make my presence known in the paint and I think (with) defensive rebounding. Thats the key for any team to be a good, championship caliber team. Theyve got enough guys who can score the ball ... Ill try to fit in wherever I can.

Ibdaa Snatch Double Title Again for 2010 and Yahia AlKhatib MVP - by Tamara Awartani
Ibdaa Dheisheh have done it again for 2010 season snatching the title for league & cup tournaments just like in 2009 while De La Salle Al Quds Jerusalem took 2nd place in both after playing strong exciting games. However, Yahia Al Khatib (190-G-77), national team and Ibdaa Dheisheh team player has earned MVP for 2010 season, a very well known experienced passionate skilled player.
The league and cup tournaments although had the same finalists and results, there was one main difference that no imports played in the cup tournament, thus Ibdaa Dheisheh proved yet again that theyre a complete competitive team. De La Salle Al Quds Jerusalem on the other hand, one of the best teams as well, had a new addition to their team Musa Bashir (206-C-78) previous Jordan national player (stay tuned for the coming article) and new coach Samir Hweileh ( a previous National team player)

Ibdaa Dheisheh vs. De La Salle Al Quds Jerusalem 85 65
The game started off strong, both teams knowing each others game, Ibdaa Dheisheh known for their quickness inside and outside game while De La Salle Al Quds Jerusalem are more known for their quickness and outside game though with Mousa on their team now that changed a bit trying to take advantage of his inside game.
De La Salle Al Quds Jerusalem tried right from the start to guard Yahia Al Khatib who is the key player for his team along with Iyad Yousef Abdalla (205-C-80), while Ibdaa Dheisheh played good defense to cut down the 3pointers of De La Salle Al Quds Jerusalem & Mousa under basket. Both had young players on their team, but Ibdaa Dheisheh had a better bench and great fitness that they were able to keep up the whole game in the same rhythm.
Ibdaa Dheisheh scored 30 points in the 1st quarter with Yahia guarded but unstoppable scoring 12points (2 3pointers) and the young shining player Khaled Khmayes scoring 8points (2 3pointers), while Sari Amer played great defense playing on the outside with Hazem Khatab along with Musa Bashir and the young rising player Jihad Yaghmour both under basket.

De La Salle Al Quds Jerusalem werent yet ready to give up that fast, got back in focus in the 2nd quarter leading 20 16 by Hazems 3pointers, Elie Nassrawis moves and Kassissieh Issa (186-F-78) experience while Ibdaa Dheisheh kept on going with Mahdi Eid (194-F-81) adding his touches to Yahia and Khaled.
3rd quarter was exciting, with both teams putting up their show, De la Salle led by Hazem Khattab with his continuous 3pointers supported by Elie, Jihad, Mousa and Tawfiq Richard, Ibdaa Dheisheh players on the other hand kept on going strong led by Yahia, Khaled, Mahdi, Abdallah Jaber and Nader abu Yousef as Iyad Yousef Abdalla (205-C-80) was getting foul trouble guarding Musa Bashir under basket, finishing 22-16 for De La Salle Al Quds Jerusalem.
Excitement grew in the 4th quarter, Yahia taking on the lead scoring 27points along with his teammates Khald Khmayes 20points, Mahdi 13points, Thaer Jaffal, Nader and a promising player Firas Shalan, all playing with their hearts to win this were able to stop De la Salle from taking the lead leading 17-13. Hazem Khattab kept on going with his game with more 3pointers scoring 20points along with Musa Bashir 17 points and Kassissieh Issa who all played hard not giving up till the last second.

Ibdaa Dheisheh showed they were ready for what was coming their way coached by Sandra (American) who was with them previously with Coach Terry in the league tournament . De La Salle Al Quds Jerusalem on the other hand, have a new coach Samir Hwaileh after being coached by Derrick Crayton who also got them the 2nd place win in the tournament . Both teams showed great skill and game making the tournament more competitive and exciting to watch.

Yahia Al Khatib was announced MVP of 2010 season, who plays for Ibdaa Dheisheh and on the national team of Palestine, a very talented skilled player, who is passionate and understands the game, a scorer and a team player, a good player on and off the court.
