Here is the weekly review of the top performing Irish players, who play currently abroad.
One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Irish passport: #1. Levon Kendall (209-F-84, college: Pittsburgh, currently plays in Spain) was the major contributor in a 3-point Blusens Monbus' victory against the 16th-ranked CB Canarias (0-3) 71-68 in the Spanish ACB in Sunday night's game. He scored 15 points, had 8 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 36 minutes. Blusens Monbus Obradoiro CAB (3-0) is placed second in the ACB. So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Kendall is ranked seventh on the list of the top scorers in the league with 15.7ppg. He also averaged so far 6.7rpg, 2.7apg and 1.3spg in the three games he played so far. Kendall has a dual citizenship: Canadian and Irish. Despite his Irish passport, Kendall currently plays for the Canadian national team and is not eligible to play for the Irish team. Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Israelis who are currently playing abroad.
One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Israeli passport: #1. Guy Aud (188-G-89, currently plays in Germany), who plays in the German ProA (second division) could not help Finke Baskets (2-2) in their last game. Despite Aud's very good performance Finke Baskets lost in an overtime 115-119 on the road to the higher-ranked (#6) Kirchheim Knights. He was the top scorer with 29 points. Aud also added 9 assists and 3 steals in 44 minutes. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Aud's first year with the team. Aud is currently first on the list of best passers with 8.0apg. He also averaged so far 12.8ppg, 3.3rpg and 2.0spg in the four games he played so far. Aud has also German passport. Worth to mention he played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. Here is the weekly review of the top performing Italian players, who play currently abroad.
#11. Former international forward Daniel Werner (203-87, college: Florida, currently plays in Ukraine) managed to help Ferro-ZNTU Zaporozhye to win against the 12th-ranked BC Odessa 94-84 in the Ukrainian Superleague on Friday night. He scored only 4 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Werner's total stats this season are: 10.0ppg, 5.2rpg and 1.8apg. He is a naturalized American. Werner used to play for the Italian national team eight years ago. He played also for Canadian Solar Bologna in Italian league. #12. Former international forward Nestoras Kommatos (203-77, currently plays in Greece), who plays in the Greek A1 was not able to secure a victory for AGOR (0-1) in their last game. Despite Kommatos' good performance AGOR was edged in a double overtime (!!!) 82-80 in Rodou by the higher-ranked (#3) Kolossos. He recorded 11 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 31 minutes. It was his first game for AGOR this season. Kommatos used to play for the Italian national team back in 2004. #13. Former international guard Marc Campbell (180-86, college: N.Carolina, currently plays in Estonia), who plays in the Estonian KML couldn't help Tln Kalev (0-2) in their last game on Friday. Despite his very good performance the bottom-ranked Tln Kalev was defeated 82-74 in a derby game by the higher-ranked Kalev/Cramo (#3). Campbell was the top scorer with 23 points. He also added 3 passes. Campbell is ranked first on the list of the top scorers in the league and also on the list of best passers (third place). This season he has very high stats. Campbell averages: 22.5ppg, 2.0rpg and 5.0apg. He is a naturalized American. Despite Campbell played previously for the USA national team, he is currently in the Italian national team roster. Strangely Campbell has never played in Italy. #14. Former international power forward Dario Fiorentino (205-86, currently plays in Germany) contributed to an easy victory against the eighth-ranked Herzoege Wolfenbuettel 79-64 in the German ProB (third division) on Saturday night. He scored 8 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 30 minutes. This year Fiorentino's total stats are: 9.3ppg, 7.3rpg and 1.7apg in the three games. Despite he played previously for the German national team, Fiorentino is currently in the Italian national team roster. #15. International guard Lorenzo D'Ercole (190-88, agency: Two Points, currently plays in Israel) contributed to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked Galil Gilboa 70-54 in the Israeli Winner League in Sunday night's game. He recorded only 2 points. It was his first game for Maccabi Rishon this season. D'Ercole used to play for the Italian national team earlier this year. One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Italian passport: #1. Marcelinho Huertas (191-PG-83, agency: Edge Sports, currently plays in Spain) led Regal FC Barcelona to a victory over the closely-ranked UCAM Murcia (1-2) 87-68 in the Spanish ACB in Sunday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Huertas scored 14 points and added 7 assists in 24 minutes. Regal FC Barcelona (1-2) is placed 11th in the ACB. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Huertas is ranked sixth on the list of the best passers in the league with 4.7apg. He also averaged so far 9.3ppg and 2.0rpg in the three games he played so far. Huertas has a dual citizenship: Brazilian and Italian. Despite his Italian passport, Huertas currently plays for the Brazilian national team and is not eligible to play for the Italian team. |

He recorded 12 points and added 3 passes in 24 minutes. Medenouvo has averaged so far 6.7ppg, 2.3rpg and 1.3apg in the three games. Despite he played previously for the French national team, Medenouvo is currently in the Ivorian national team roster. #12. Former international forward Issife Soumahoro (197-88, currently plays in France) helped Fos Ouest win their n overtime game against the second-ranked Nantes 88-81 in the French ProB (second division) on Friday night. #11. Former international forward Ronald Yates (201-83, college: St.Peter's, currently plays in Switzerland) helped Fribourg win their game against the eighth-ranked Neuchatel 69-61 in the Swiss LNA on Sunday night. Yates recorded 13 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. It was his first game for Fribourg this season. Yates is a naturalized American. Despite he played previously for the USA national team, Yates is currently in the Jamaican national team roster. #12. Former international center Kevin Young (206-84, college: Missouri, currently plays in Japan) was not able to secure a victory for Aishin Sea Horses in their game against Hitachi Sunrockers in the Japanese JBL. He was the second best scorer with 8 points. Young also added 8 rebounds in 17 minutes. His team were badly defeated by 18 points 67-49. Young belongs to league's best rebounders (ranked #7) and also on the list of best blockers (fifth place). This year his overall stats are: 9.0ppg, 7.3rpg and 1.3apg in the four games. Young used to play for the Jamaican national team back in 2006. #13. Former international guard Ricky Johns (193-85, college: Utah, currently plays in Mexico) helped Lechugueros win their game against the fifth-ranked Panteras 90-72 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) last Thursday. He scored 11 points and added 4 passes. Johns' total stats this season are: 9.6ppg, 2.5rpg and 2.5apg. He used to play for the Jamaican national team two years ago. #14. Former international center Hugh Robinson (202-83, currently plays in Sweden), who plays in the Swedish Basketettan (second division) couldn't help Brahe Basket (3-1) in their last game. International power forward Ryan Reid (203-86, college: Florida St., currently plays in France) couldn't help Chorale de Roanne in their game against Sluc Nancy in the French ProA. He scored 5 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. His team was defeated 58-45. Reid's total stats this season are: 4.5ppg and 4.0rpg. He is a naturalized American. Reid is also in the roster of the Jamaican national team. One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Jamaican passport: #1. Adrian Uter (200-F/C-84, agency: Gross Zeev ISA, college: Hofstra, currently plays in Israel) led Maccabi Rishon to a victory over the ninth-ranked Galil Gilboa (0-1) 70-54 in the Israeli Winner League in Sunday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Uter had a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 5 blocks in 36 minutes. It was his first game for Maccabi Rishon this season. His team is placed third in the Winner League. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. We bring you last week's top performances from Kosovans who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.
#3. The Kosovan player who performed third best last week abroad was an international forward Gazmend Sinani (203-91, currently plays in Sweden), who plays in the Swedish Basketettan (second division). Sinani was not able to secure a victory for Helsingborg (0-0) in their last game. Despite his good performance the third-placed Helsingborg lost 60-64 on their home court in Helsingborg to the lower-ranked (#6) Eskilstuna in the South group. Sinani had a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting the same number of rebounds in 29 minutes. . It's Sinani's first season with the team. This year his overall stats are: 10.0ppg, 12.0rpg, 2.5bpg, 2FGP: 43.8%, 3FGP: 33.3% in the two games. Sinani is also a member of the Kosovan senior national team.
The list of other players, who all have Kosovan passport but never been selected to any of Kosovan national teams: #1. Erjon Kastrati (198-F/G-94, currently plays in Adriatic League) contributed to a 2-point Krka's victory against the tenth-ranked Cibona (1-3) 69-67 in the Adriatic League in Sunday night's game. He recorded 8 points in 15 minutes. Krka Novo Mesto (3-1) is placed fifth in the Adriatic League. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Kastrati's first year with the team. This season Kastrati averages: 4.0ppg in the four games he played so far. He has also Albanian passport. #2. Kenan Sipahi (198-PG-95, currently plays in Turkey), who plays in the Turkish TBL could not help Tofas (0-1) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Sipahi's good performance Tofas was defeated 81-72 on the road by the much higher-ranked TED Kolejliler (#8). He recorded 11 points. It was his first game for Tofas this season. But the season just started, so everything may happen. It's Sipahi's fourth year with the team. Sipahi has a dual citizenship: Kosovan and Turkish. Despite his Kosovan passport, Sipahi currently plays for the Turkish U18 national team and is not eligible to play for the Kosovan team. International point guard Edgars Jeromanovs (186-86, currently plays in Sweden) was the main contributor in a Norrkoping Dolphins' victory against the closely-ranked Solna Vikings 85-80 in the Swedish Basketligan last Friday. He was the best player in that game. Jeromanovs had a double-double by scoring 18 points and making 10 passes. He also added 4 rebounds and 3 steals in 35 minutes. Jeromanovs is currently second on the league's list of best passers with 5.0apg. This year he also averages: 14.8ppg, 3.0rpg and 1.3spg in the four games. Jeromanovs used to play for the Latvian national team earlier this year. #12. Former international forward Ernests Kalve (200-87, currently plays in Adriatic League) couldn't help Szolnok in their game against Buducnost in the Adriatic League. He recorded 9 points and had 3 steals. His team was crushed by 25 points 75-50. Kalve is ranked second on the list of the best blockers in the league. Salenga helped Budivelnyk win their game against the fifth-ranked Hoverla 92-84. He scored 11 points in a mere 19 minutes. This year Salenga's total stats are: 7.8ppg, 2.0rpg and 2.4apg in the five games. He used to play for the Lithuanian national team seven years ago. #12. He scored 6 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and made 2 blocks. Young is ranked third on the list of the best blockers in the league. He has averaged so far 5.0ppg, 5.5rpg and 2.0bpg. Young is a naturalized American. Despite he played previously for the USA national team, Young is currently in the Lithuanian national team roster. Strangely he has never played in Lithuania. #15. Former U21 international forward Vaidotas Pridotkas (200-84, currently plays in France), who plays in the French ProB (second division) was not able to help Charleville-Mezieres (2-2) in their last game. Despite Pridotkas' very good performance Charleville-Mezieres was badly defeated 92-76 in Aix-les-Bains by the higher-ranked (#5) Aix-Maurienne. He was the second best scorer with 19 points. Pridotkas also added 5 rebounds in 34 minutes. His stats this year are: 14.3ppg, 5.5rpg and 2.0spg in the four games. Pridotkas used to play for the Lithuanian U21 national team seven years ago. |
