| Dzaflo Larkai's double-double lands him Player of the Week award among British players playing currently abroad
- by Eurobasket Center
Here is the weekly review of the top performing British players, who play currently abroad.
The list of other players, who all have British passport but never been selected to any of British national teams: #1. Experienced Darren Phillip (201-F-78, college: Fairfield, currently plays in Argentina), who plays in the Argentinian LigaA could not help Union Progresista (3-9) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the seventh-placed Union Progresista lost 69-76 on the road to the higher-ranked (#4) Sionista in the North group. Phillip had a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 18 rebounds in 28 minutes. It was Union Progresista's third consecutive loss in a row. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Phillip's first year with the team. Phillip is currently sixth on the list of top scorers and also on the list of best rebounders (first place). He has individually a very good year with high stats. Phillip averages: 16.6ppg, 12.7rpg and 1.5spg in the 10 games he played so far. He is a naturalized American. Strangely Phillip has never played in United Kingdom. #2. Sullivan Phillips (198-G/F-79, college: Wash.Adventist, currently plays in Germany), who plays in the German ProA (second division) was not able to help BG Goettingen (3-2) in their last game. Despite Phillips' very good performance BG Goettingen lost 68-79 in Leipzig to the league outsider (#16) USC Leipzig. He was the top scorer with 18 points. Phillips also added 7 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 31 minutes. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. Phillips is ranked fourth on the list of the best passers in the league with 5.4apg. This year his other stats are: 15.0ppg and 7.0rpg in the five games. Phillips has a dual citizenship: Bermudas and British. Despite his British passport, Phillips currently plays for the Bermudas national team and is not eligible to play for the British team. #3. Lee Jeka (187-G-83, agency: Limelight Hoops, currently plays in Germany), who plays in the German ProA (second division) was not able to secure a victory for Science City Jena (1-4) in their last game. Despite Jeka's very good performance Science City Jena lost 92-98 in Paderborn to the much higher-ranked (#8) Finke Baskets. He was the top scorer with 23 points.
