| Luis Scola selected the top Argentinian playing abroad in last week's games

We bring you last week's top performances from Argentinians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.
The list of other players, who all have Argentinian passport but never been selected to any of Argentinian national teams: #1. Bruno Cerella (194-G/F-86, agency: Players Group) led Banca Tercas to a surprising victory over the fourth-ranked Banco di Sardegna Sassari (15-9) 83-78 in the Italian SerieA in Sunday night's game. Cerella was MVP of the game. He recorded 21 points and added 3 assists in 35 minutes. Banca Tercas Teramo (8-17) is placed second from the bottom (#16) in the SerieA. This year Cerella's overall stats are: 9.4ppg, 3.0rpg, 1.2apg and 1.1spg in the 25 games he played so far. He has also Italian passport. #2. Marcos Casini (188-PG-80), who plays in the Italian Lega2 (second division) could not help Givova Scafati (16-8) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Casini's very good performance Givova Scafati was defeated 85-70 on the road by the lower-ranked Prima Veroli (#9). He was the top scorer with 21 points. Casini also added 4 rebounds. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Casini's overall stats this season are: 8.5ppg, 2.6rpg and 1.2spg. He has also Italian citizenship. #3. Bernardo Musso (192-G-86) led Napoli to a 2-point victory over the third-ranked Bari (15-16) 63-61 in the Italian Nazionale A (third division) on Thursday night. Musso was MVP of the game. He recorded 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in 35 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in Division South-West. BPMed Basket Napoli (25-6) is placed first in South-West Division. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Musso is ranked first on the list of the top scorers in the league and also on the list of best passers (second place). He has individually a very good year with high stats. Musso averages: 19.6ppg, 6.5rpg, 4.2apg and 2.7spg in the 31 games. Similarly like Casini and Cerella above he has also Italian nationality. #4. Federico Van Lacke (191-G-80), who plays in the Spanish ACB was not able to help one of league's weakest teams FIATC Joventut (11-15) in their last game. Despite Van Lacke's good performance FIATC Joventut lost 73-81 at home to the higher-ranked (#12) Gran Canaria 2014. He was the second best scorer with 12 points. Van Lacke also added 4 assists in 28 minutes. This year Van Lacke's overall stats are: 7.8ppg, 2.8rpg and 2.3apg in the 26 games. Similarly like three previous players above, he has also Italian citizenship. #5. Experienced Patricio Prato (196-G-79), who plays in the Italian Lega2 (second division) was not able to secure a victory for Aget Imola (9-14) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Prato's very good performance Aget Imola was defeated 80-72 in Forli by the league outsider MarcoPoloShop.it (#15). He was the top scorer with 20 points. Prato also added 3 steals. Prato averaged so far 13.2ppg, 3.8rpg, 1.6apg and 2.3spg. He has also Italian nationality. #6. Mario Jose Ghersetti (201-F-81) led Centrale Latte to a victory against the closely-ranked Enel Brindisi 81-71 in the Italian Lega2 (second division) in Sunday night's game. Ghersetti recorded 15 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 26 minutes. Ghersetti's stats this year are: 14.9ppg, 6.1rpg and 2.3spg in the 22 games. Similarly like all previous players above, he has also Italian passport. #7. Nicolas Richotti (181-PG-86), who plays in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) couldn't help Canarias (21-7) in their last game on Friday. Despite Richotti's very good performance the league leader Canarias was defeated 77-63 on the opponent's court by the lower-ranked Melilla_Baloncesto (#7). He was the top scorer with 16 points. Richotti averaged so far 12.8ppg, 2.4rpg, 2.2apg and 1.1spg. He has also Italian citizenship. #8. Sebastian Vico (190-G-86, also represented by Players Group), who plays in the Italian Nazionale A (third division) couldn't help Matera (14-17) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his very good performance Matera (#5) was defeated 88-73 in Siena by the lower-ranked Comsum.it SI (#5) in the South-West Division. Vico was the top scorer with 19 points. He also added 5 rebounds. Vico is ranked seventh on the list of the best passers in the league. He has very reliable stats this season: 13.9ppg, 3.5rpg, 2.9apg and 2.4spg. Similarly like all previous players above, Vico has also Italian passport. #9. Franco Migliori (197-G-82) contributed to a 2-point Fileni BPA's victory against the league outsider MarcoPoloShop.it 81-79 in the Italian Lega2 (second division) last Sunday. He recorded 13 points and grabbed 5 rebounds (made all of his six free throws) in 30 minutes. Migliori's stats this year are: 10.5ppg, 3.3rpg and 1.1spg in the 15 games. He has also Italian citizenship. #10. Franco Rocchia (192-G-85) contributed to a Baloncesto Leon's victory against the closely-ranked Lobe Huesca 86-82 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) in Saturday night's game. We bring you last week's top performances from Australians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.
#11. International center Andrew James Ogilvy (211-88, college: Vanderbilt) is a teammate of previously mentioned Brad Newley. But that was another game of his team in Eurocup which we would like to mention. Ogilvy couldn't help Valencia Basket in their game against Buducnost. He recorded 6 points. His team was defeated 75-71. Ogilvy has averaged so far 9.3ppg and 3.0rpg. He plays currently for the Australian national team. #12. International forward David Barlow (205-83, college: Metro St.) helped UCAM Murcia win their game against the league outsider Blancos de Rueda crushing them 85-56 in the Spanish ACB in Sunday night's game. Barlow recorded 9 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists in 30 minutes. He has averaged so far 7.9ppg and 4.7rpg in the 26 games. Barlow is also in the roster of the Australian national team. #13. International center Aron Baynes (208-86, college: Washington St.) helped Ikaros win their game against the closely-ranked PAOK 82-64 in the Greek A1 last Saturday. He recorded 11 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Baynes is the league's best rebounder. This season he has very good stats: 13.8ppg and 8.9rpg. Baynes is also Australian national team player. #14. Former U21 international forward Blagoj Janev (203-84, college: New Hampshire) helped Thor Thorl win their game against the closely-ranked Haukar 85-79 in the Icelandic Express League in Thursday night's game. Former U18 international guard Mark Dickel (188-76, college: UNLV) helped Otago OceanaGold Nuggets win their game against the league outsider Zero Fees Southland Sharks 80-68 in the New Zealand NBL last Sunday. He scored 18 points, made 3 passes and 3 steals in 40 minutes. Dickel is ranked third on the list of the best passers in the league with 6.8apg. Despite Dickel played previously for the New Zealand national team, he is currently in the Australian U18 national team roster. Kyrie Irving (191-G-92, college: Duke), who plays in the NBA could not help the Cleveland Cavaliers (17-28) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the Cleveland Cavaliers were edged in an overtime 103-102 on the road by the Atlanta Hawks. Irving was the top scorer with 29 points. He also added 9 boards, dished 9 assists and stole 3 balls in 42 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Irving's third season in pro basketball. It's Irving's first year with the team. He has individually a very good season with high stats. Irving averages: 18.9ppg, 3.8rpg and 5.7apg in the 41 games he played so far. He is a naturalized American. Despite Irving's Australian passport, he previously played for the USA U18 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Australian team. Strangely Irving has never played in Australia. #2. John Fitzgerald (193-G-84, college: Lindsey Wilson) led Malbas to a victory over the 11th-ranked Hogsbo (6-16) 81-67 in the Swedish Basketettan (second division) on Saturday night. He was the best player in that game. Fitzgerald scored 23 points and grabbed 8 rebounds (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) in 39 minutes. Malbas Oresund (21-1) is placed first in South group. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Fitzgerald is ranked second on the list of the top scorers in the league and also on the list of best passers (fourth place). He has very impressive stats this year: 26.5ppg, 9.2rpg, 4.6apg and 4.2spg in the 20 games. #3. Lee Jeka (187-G-83, agency: Limelight Hoops), who plays in the German ProA (second division) was not able to help Saar-Pfalz Braves (7-20) in their last game on Friday. Despite Jeka's very good performance Saar-Pfalz Braves was edged 91-88 in Heidelberg by the much higher-ranked USC Heidelberg (#4). He recorded 15 points and added 4 passes. Jeka's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Jeka is currently second on the league's list of best passers. He has very solid stats this season: 14.7ppg, 2.4rpg and 5.1apg. Jeka has also British nationality. #4. Experienced Mick Pennisi (210-C-75, college: E.Michigan) managed to help Barako Bull Energy in a victory against the closely-ranked Meralco Bolts (4-5) 89-82 in the Filipino PBA on Saturday night. He recorded only 3 points in 19 minutes. Barako Bull Energy (4-5) is placed fifth in the PBA. The Regular Season already ended. Pennisi has averaged so far 7.8ppg and 3.3rpg in the eight games. He has a dual citizenship: Australian and Filipino. #5. Laurent Lahey (204-F/C-89) was not able to secure a victory for Boncourt (7-17) in their game against SAV Vacallo (13-11) in the Swiss LNA. Lahey cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 2 points. Boncourt was defeated 72-65 in Chiasso by the higher-ranked SAV Vacallo (#5). The Regular Season already ended. Lahey has averaged so far 4.2ppg and 4.6rpg. He is another player who holds two passports: Australian and Swiss. #6. Zeke Meehl (183-G-88) contributed to a 1-point McDonalds Manawatu Jets' victory against the closely-ranked Wellington Exodus Saints 76-75 in the New Zealand NBL last Sunday. Meehl scored only 3 points in 11 minutes. This year Meehl averages just 2.7ppg in the three games. He has also New Zealand citizenship. #7. Miles Pearce (205-C-78) is a teammate of previously mentioned Zeke Meehl and both played together in the last New Zealand NBL game. Pearce contributed to a 1-point McDonalds Manawatu Jets' victory against the closely-ranked Wellington Exodus Saints 76-75. He scored only 2 points. Pearce has averaged so far 2.3ppg and 2.3rpg. He has both Australian and New Zealand nationalities. #8. Lau Bik Ing (180-G-78) couldn't help KL Dragons in their game against Thailand Slammers in the ASEAN. Bik Ing recorded 6 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in only 13 minutes. His team lost 69-80. Bik Ing has averaged so far 2.3ppg and 2.3rpg in the three games. He also holds two passports: Australian and Malaysian. Despite Bik Ing's Australian nationality, he currently plays for the Malaysian national team and cannot be called to the Australian team. |

One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Austrian passport: #1. Ivan Djerman (203-F-83) led Amicale to a victory against the second-ranked Musel Pikes (20-4) 86-75 in the Luxembourg Diekirch League last Saturday. Djerman had a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting 12 rebounds in 40 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group 1-6 places. Amicale Steinsel (9-13) is placed first. There are only four games left until the end of the Second Stage. So now every game will be critical. This year Djerman has relatively solid stats: 14.8ppg, 8.9rpg and 1.4apg in the 23 games he played so far. He has also Croatian citizenship. The list of other players, who all have Belarusian passport but never been selected to any of Belarusian national teams: #1. Sergey Karpov (200-F-80), who plays in the Russian Superlaegue (second division) could not help Sojuz Zaretchny (6-20) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Karpov's very good performance the bottom-ranked Sojuz Zaretchny was badly defeated 88-71 at home by the second-ranked Ataman. He was the top scorer with 28 points. Karpov also added 3 passes. Karpov's total stats this season are: 9.4ppg and 2.1rpg. He has also Russian nationality. #2. Vladi Yeremishin (201-F/C-84, agency: Avi Zilberman) was not able to help one of league's weakest teams Lev Hasharon (7-16) in their game against Hapoel Tel-Aviv (3-16) in the Israeli National League (second division). Experienced Ryan Hoover (188-G-74, agency: SportsTalent, college: Notre Dame) led Fileni BPA to a 2-point victory against the league outsider MarcoPoloShop.it (7-16) 81-79 in the Italian Lega2 (second division) in Sunday night's game. Hoover recorded 13 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Fileni BPA Jesi (12-11) is placed seventh in the Lega2. This season Hoover has relatively solid stats: 11.7ppg, 3.2rpg, 2.1apg and 1.4spg. He is a naturalized American. Strangely Hoover has never played in Belgium. #2. best in steals. He has very reliable stats this season: 11.8ppg, 5.1rpg, 2.2apg and 2.6spg. #11. International forward Miralem Halilovic (205-91) is a teammate of previously mentioned Ante Masic and both played together in the last Croatian A1 game. Halilovic contributed to an overtime KK Zagreb CO's victory against the sixth-ranked Zabok 100-99. He scored 6 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in only 12 minutes. It was his first game for KK Zagreb CO this season. Halilovic plays currently for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. #12. International forward Milan Milosevic (205-85) contributed to Buducnost's victory against the leader Valencia Basket 75-71 in the Eurocup in Tuesday night's game. He recorded 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 21 minutes. This year Milosevic's overall stats are: 2.8ppg and 2.4rpg in the 13 games. He is also in the roster of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. #13. An experienced former international power forward Elvir Ovcina (210-76, another player represented by Interperformances, college: Syracuse) was not able to secure a victory for LTi 46ers in their game against BG Goettingen in the German BBL. Former U21 international center Bruno Sundov (221-80, also represented by Alti Sport) contributed to a Lukoil Academik's victory against one of league's weakest teams Spartak Pleven 87-80 in the Bulgarian NBL on Saturday night. Sundov recorded 10 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Sundov is currently fifth on the league's list of best blockers. This season he has very good stats: 12.4ppg and 5.4rpg. Sundov used to play for the Croatian U21 national team twelve years ago. #12. Former U20 international forward Drazen Bubnic (205-86) is a teammate of previously mentioned Drago Pasalic and both played together in the last Slovenian Telemach League game. Bubnic helped Helios win their game against the sixth-ranked Sentjur 75-61. He scored 13 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 3 assists in only a mere 9 minutes. Bubnic averaged so far 12.9ppg, 4.9rpg and 2.4apg in the 19 games. He used to play for the Croatian U20 national team back in 2006. #13. Here is the weekly review of the top performing Israeli players, who play currently abroad.
The list of other players, who all have Israeli passport but never been selected to any of Israeli national teams: #1. Jason Thomas (191-G-82, agency: Gross Zeev ISA, college: American) led Boras Basket to a victory over the closely-ranked Uppsala Basket (21-15) 84-67 in the Swedish Basketligan on Thursday night. He was MVP of the game. Thomas had a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 12 rebounds. He also added and 3 steals in 32 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Boras Basket (21-15) is placed third in the Basketligan. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Thomas has relatively good stats this year: 11.8ppg, 6.1rpg, 1.4apg and 1.4spg in the 36 games he played so far. He is a naturalized American. Thomas used to play for Ironi Kfar Hamaccabia Ramat Gan in Israeli league. #2. Guy Aud (182-G-89) was the main contributor in a Licher Baeren's victory against the 13th-ranked SSV Lok Bernau (2-22) crushing them 90-55 in the German ProB (third division) in Sunday night's game. Aud was MVP of the game. He recorded 21 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 32 minutes. Licher Basket Baeren (11-11) is placed ninth in Group South. Experienced Facundo Sucatzky (176-G-72), who plays in the Argentinian LigaA could not help Atenas (16-14) to beat Regatas Corrientes (15-15). He scored 6 points and added 3 passes in 28 minutes. Atenas lost in an overtime 81-86 on the road to the lower-ranked (#10) Regatas Corrientes. This year Sucatzky's total stats are: 6.3ppg, 1.9rpg and 3.7apg in the 46 games. He has a dual citizenship: Israeli and Argentinian. Despite Sucatzky's Israeli passport, he previously played for the Argentinian national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Israeli team. #4. Shawn Weinstein (186-G-85, also represented by Gross Zeev ISA, college: St.Edward's) managed to help Barako Bull Energy in a victory against the closely-ranked Petron Blaze (3-5) 94-80 in the Filipino PBA last Wednesday. Weinstein scored only 2 points in 16 minutes. Barako Bull Energy (4-5) is placed fifth in the PBA. The Regular Season already ended. This year Weinstein averages just 2.0ppg in the four games. He is a naturalized American. Weinstein used to play for Elitzur Maccabi Netanya in Israeli league. |
