Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Argentinians who are currently playing abroad.
#11. Former U17 international center Matias Bortolin (205-93, another player represented by Interperformances, currently plays in Austria) is a teammate of previously mentioned Fabricio Vay and both played together in the last Austrian A Bundesliga game. Bortolin couldn't help Arkadia Lions in their game against UBSC Graz. Despite his very good performance last Sunday He was the second best scorer with 19 points. Bortolin also added 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists. Bortolin belongs to league's best blockers and is ranked #2. He has very reliable stats this season: 10.5ppg, 6.2rpg, 2.7apg and 1.2bpg. Bortolin used to play for the Argentinian U17 national team three years ago. #12. Former U19 international guard Cristian Cortez (185-90, currently plays in Brazil) helped Mogi win their game against the 12th-ranked Winner/Limeira 79-71 in the Brazilian NBB on Saturday night. He scored 5 points in 11 minutes. This year Cortez's overall stats are: 7.3ppg, 2.2rpg and 3.2apg in the 18 games. He used to play for the Argentinian U19 national team back in 2009. #13. Carlos Sebastian Vico (190-G-86, agency: Players Group, currently plays in Italy) led Matera to a victory over the 13th-ranked Mirandola (10-13) 91-87 in the Italian Nazionale A (third division) in Sunday night's game. Vico was MVP of the game. He recorded 40 points (!!!), 4 assists and 4 steals. Bawer Matera (15-8) is placed second in the Nazionale A. It was his team's first victory after three consecutive loses. Vico is currently second on the list of most steals. He has very reliable stats this season: 14.2ppg, 4.3rpg, 2.1apg and 3.0spg. Vico has a dual citizenship: Argentinian and Italian. #2. Ariel Filloy (189-PG-87, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian Lega2 (second division) could not help AcegasAps TR (8-10) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his very good performance AcegasAps TR was defeated 76-69 on the road by the higher-ranked Givova Scafati (#5). Filloy was the top scorer with 19 points. He also added 6 rebounds. Filloy has reliable stats this season: 11.8ppg, 3.6rpg, 2.5apg and 1.7spg. He is another player who holds two passports: Argentinian and Italian. Despite Filloy's Argentinian nationality, he previously played for the Italian U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Argentinian team. #3. Bernardo Musso (193-G-86, currently plays in Italy) was the main contributor in a LeGamberi Foods Forli's victory against the 12th-ranked FCM Ferentino (7-11) 102-97 in the Italian Lega2 (second division) on Sunday night. Musso was MVP of the game. He recorded 17 points and added 3 assists (made all of his six free throws) in 33 minutes. LeGamberi Foods Forli (9-9) is placed seventh in the Lega2. This year Musso's overall stats are: 9.8ppg, 3.0rpg, 1.9apg and 1.7spg in the 16 games he played so far. Similarly like Filloy and Vico above he has both Argentinian and Italian nationalities. #4. Pablo Bertone (193-G-90, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to a Florida Atlantic's victory against the Western Kentucky University (7-9) 84-78 in the NCAA last Thursday. He scored 12 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 7 assists in 31 minutes. The Florida Atlantic University has 7-10 conference record this season. There are only three games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Bertone's overall stats are: 8.4ppg, 3.0rpg, 4.6apg and 2.2spg in the 18 games. #5. Experienced Manuel Carrizo (198-F/G-80, also represented by Players Group, currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian Nazionale A (third division) was not able to help Latina Basket (9-15) in their last game. Despite Carrizo's very good performance Latina Basket was badly defeated 93-74 on the opponent's court by the lower-ranked (#16) Recanati. He was the top scorer with 20 points. Carrizo also added 3 passes in 40 minutes. Carrizo has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 20.2ppg, 5.8rpg, 3.2apg and 1.8spg in the five games. Carrizo also holds two passports: Argentinian and Italian. #6. Albano Chiarastella (196-F-85, currently plays in Italy) helped Agrigento win their game against the eighth-ranked Chieti 90-83 in the Italian Nazionale A (third division) on Sunday night. He had a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 10 rebounds. Chiarastella also added 3 assists in 39 minutes. This year Chiarastella's overall stats are: 9.0ppg, 7.0rpg, 1.5apg and 1.4spg in the 14 games. He has Argentinian and Italian nationalities. #7. Andres Forray (187-PG-86, currently plays in Italy) helped Pall.Trento win their game against the closely-ranked Prima Veroli 68-57 in the Italian Lega2 (second division) last Sunday. He scored 6 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 30 minutes. This year Forray's overall stats are: 7.8ppg, 3.1rpg, 2.5apg and 1.9spg in the 17 games. Similarly like Chiarastella and Carrizo above he holds both Argentinian and Italian passports. #8. Franco Prelazzi (205-F/C-79, currently plays in Italy) was not able to secure a victory for Castelletto in their game against Firenze in the Italian Nazionale A (third division). Prelazzi recorded 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. It was his first game for Castelletto this season. His team was defeated 79-68. Similarly like three previous players above, Prelazzi has Argentinian and Italian nationalities. #9. Augustin Fabi (199-G/F-91, currently plays in Italy) helped Liomatic Viola Reggio Calabria win their game against the 17th-ranked Mazzeo San Severo 66-56 in the Italian Nazionale A (third division) in Sunday night's game. He scored 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 19 minutes. This year Fabi's overall stats are: 8.6ppg, 4.1rpg, 1.1apg and 1.3spg in the 22 games. He has dual citizenship: Argentinian and Italian. #10. Mario Jose Ghersetti (201-F-81, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help Tezenis VE in their game against Tuscany Pistoia in the Italian Lega2 (second division). Here is the weekly review of the top performing Australian players, who play currently abroad.
#11. Former international point guard Jorden Page (185-90, currently plays college basketball in the States) is a teammate of previously mentioned Matthew Dellavedova. But that was another game of his team in NCAA which we would like to mention. Page helped St.Mary's, CA win their game against the Loyola Marymount University 61-50. He scored 12 points and added 4 passes. This season Page averages only 4.3ppg. He used to play for the Australian national team four years ago. #12. International point guard Hugh Greenwood (190-92, currently plays college basketball in the States) is a teammate of previously mentioned Cameron Bairstow. However that was another game of his team in NCAA which brought him to that list. Greenwood helped N.Mexico win their game against the Fresno State University 54-48. He scored 7 points, grabbed 5 boards, passed 3 assists and added 3 steals in 31 minutes. This year Greenwood averages only 4.3ppg in the 43 games. He is also in the roster of the Australian national team. #13. International power forward David Barlow (205-83, college: Metro St., currently plays in Spain) faced previously mentioned Brad Newley in the Spanish ACB last game. Barlow helped UCAM Murcia win their game against the fifth-ranked G.Canaria 2014 78-68. He scored 6 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Barlow has averaged so far 7.1ppg, 4.6rpg and 1.1apg. He is also Australian national team player. #14. International center Aron Baynes (208-86, college: Washington St., currently plays in NBA) is a teammate of previously mentioned Patrick Mills. But that was another game of his team in NBA we would like to talk about. Baynes helped San Antonio Spurs win their game against the Brooklyn Nets crushing them 111-86. He scored only 2 points in 4 minutes on the court. Baynes has averaged so far 1.5ppg and 1.7rpg in the six games. He plays currently for the Australian national team. #15. International forward Matt Nielsen (208-78, currently plays in Euroleague) couldn't help Khimky in their game against Olympiacos in the Euroleague. Nielsen cannot count Friday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 2 points. His team was defeated 87-82. Nielsen has averaged so far 1.9ppg, 1.9rpg and 1.6apg. Kyrie Irving (191-G-92, college: Duke, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA could not help the Cleveland Cavaliers (16-37) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the Cleveland Cavaliers lost 92-100 on the road to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Irving was the top scorer with 20 points. He also added 4 rebounds and 7 assists in 36 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Irving's second season in pro basketball. It was Cavaliers' third consecutive loss in a row. Irving is ranked sixth on the list of the top scorers in the league with 23.5ppg. He also averaged so far 3.7rpg, 5.5apg and 1.7spg in the 42 games he played so far. Irving is a naturalized American. Despite his Australian passport, Irving previously played for the USA U18 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Australian team. Strangely he has never played in Australia. #2. Mathiang Muo (196-F, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA was not able to help the Charleston So. (9-3) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite his good performance the Charleston So. was defeated 70-65 in Rock Hill, SC by the Winthrop University. Muo scored 13 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. There are only four games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Muo has averaged so far 7.2ppg and 4.2rpg. He has a dual citizenship: Australian and Sudanese. #3. Experienced Michael Kingma (208-C-79, agency: R.H.Consultancy, currently plays in Holland) was not able to secure a victory for Groningen (17-9) in their game against Den Bosch (21-4) in the Dutch Eredivisie, despite his good performance last Thursday. Kingma scored 10 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 16 minutes. But Groningen lost 75-83 at home to the leading Den Bosch. Kingma has averaged so far 4.5ppg and 4.5rpg in the 25 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Australian and Dutch. #4. Joel Naburgs (193-G-90, currently studies in the States) led Stetson to an easy victory against the Northern Kentucky University (5-7) 62-46 in the NCAA on Saturday night. There are only three games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. Naburgs plays for the team since 2009. He has averaged so far 1.9ppg, 1.9rpg and 1.6apg in the 14 games. #5. Damon Heuir (188-PG, is currently at the American university) couldn't help the S.Utah (8-8) in their game against the Portland State University (4-11) in the NCAA. Despite his very good performance in Thursday night's game Heuir scored 14 points and added 6 passes. There are only four games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. Heuir plays for the team since 2009. He has averaged so far 1.9ppg, 1.9rpg and 1.6apg. #6. Adrien Sturt (209-C-86, college: Snow CC, currently plays in United Kingdom) couldn't help London Lions in their game against Worcester Wolves in the British BBL, despite his very good performance last Saturday. Sturt was the second best scorer with 18 points. He also added 6 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 32 minutes. But his team lost 91-98. Indiana Faithfull (193-G-91, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to an easy victory against the Univ.of Tennessee - Chattanooga crushing them 78-58 in the NCAA on Saturday night. Majok Majok (203-F-92, currently plays college basketball in the States) couldn't help the Ball St. in their game against the Eastern Michigan University in the NCAA. The list of other players, who all have Bahamas passport but never been selected to any of Bahamas national teams: #1. Klay Thompson (198-G-90, college: Washington St., currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA could not help the Golden State Warriors (30-22) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the Golden State Warriors lost 107-116 on the road to the Houston Rockets. Thompson was the second best scorer with 22 points in 39 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his second season in pro basketball. It was Golden State Warriors' fifth consecutive loss in a row. Thompson has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 16.4ppg, 3.9rpg and 2.3apg in the 52 games he played so far. Thompson has a dual citizenship: Bahamas and American. Despite his Bahamas passport, Thompson previously played for the USA U19 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Bahamas team. #2. J.R. Cadot (195-G-87, college: TCU, currently plays in Slovakia) led Nitra to a victory against the league outsider Handlova (6-19) 98-85 in the Slovakian Extraliga last Wednesday. Hield has very impressive stats this year: 17.3ppg, 9.2rpg, 1.5apg and 2.2spg in the 20 games. #4. Dynile Forbes (188-G-86, college: La-Monroe, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an Aurteneche Maquinaria Euskadi's victory against the closely-ranked Fontedoso Carrefour (6-10) 73-65 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) in Saturday night's game. He scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in a mere 18 minutes. Aurteneche Maquinaria Euskadi (9-7) is placed sixth in the LEB Silver. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Tyler Haws (196-G, currently plays college basketball in the States) led BYU to a victory against the University of Portland (3-10) 86-72 in the NCAA last Saturday. Haws scored 28 points (!!!), grabbed 8 rebounds and dished 3 assists. The Brigham Young University has a solid 9-4 conference record this season. There are only three games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Haws' fourth year with the team. This season he has relatively solid stats: 11.2ppg, 4.6rpg, 4.1apg and 1.3spg. #2. Ronrico White (190-PG-92, currently studies in the States) contributed to an overtime Chattanooga's victory against the Samford University (8-6) 62-59 in the NCAA in Monday night's game. Former U18 international forward Dejan Jeftic (200-89, currently plays in Serbia) helped Vrsac win their game against the 12th-ranked BKK Radnicki crushing them 98-69 in the Serbian A League in Saturday night's game. Jeftic scored 13 points. This season Jeftic has relatively solid stats: 11.0ppg and 3.4rpg. He used to play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina U18 national team six years ago. #12.
