Not a terrible 3pt shooter, although he doesn't shoot that much from the outside.

Explosive scorer that possesses a wide offensive skill-set ... Good length for either wing position ... Active runner ... Quick feet ... Gets himself squared up to the hoop almost instantly ... Volume shooter. Not a very strong finisher at the rim, due in large part to his slight frame ... Does most of his scoring outside the paint, so it's hard for him to establish a good scoring rhythm if his shot isn't falling

JUCO - Juco guard Ty Lazenby commits to Sooners  - by Eurobasket News - 2 days ago

He grew up a huge Oklahoma State fan, but Ty Lazenby (6'5''-G) is heading to Norman. The first-team junior college All-American committed to Oklahoma during his official visit Friday. Lazenby, 6-foot-5 and 215 pounds, averaged more than 22.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game last year for Northern Oklahoma College-Enid. He shot 86 percent from the free throw line and 45 percent from the field. Lazenby was a major star at Glencoe (Okla.) High, leading Glencoe to back-to-back-to-back championships. But his size was in question so he opted for the juco route. The journey has paid off with the commitment to the Sooners. He was contacted by OU assistant coach Chris Crutchfield last Sunday and the visit was confirmed Tuesday evening after speaking with head coach Lon Kruger. Lazenby visited Penn State earlier this week and was set to visit Utah on Monday but never ruled out committing to the Sooners if everything fell into place. OU is getting a real OKPreps feel to its team right now. The 2016 class saw Kristian Doolittle. The 2017 class has Scout 100 prospects Trae Young and Brady Manek. And now here comes a blast from the past with Lazenby. 'That would be a great opportunity if it happens,' said Lazenby to Sooners Illustrated on Tuesday. 'Trae Young - I mean you don't have to say much about him. Kristian Doolittle is a big, strong attacker. And everything I've heard about Brady is he's a sharpshooter with size.' Lazenby is hoping to be another piece to that puzzle. He was around 200 pounds coming out of high school and believes adding the 15 pounds in the last two years is a huge reason why his recruitment took off here recently. Lazenby will be a junior for the upcoming season but does have a redshirt season available to him as well. The addition of Lazenby means OU has one open scholarship remaining if Kruger and company decide to pursue another junior college or graduate transfer at this stage.

NCAA1 - Former Auburn guard TJ Lang commits to new school  - by Eurobasket News - 2 days ago

TJ Lang (6'7''-G) will play his final season of eligibility for South Florida. The former Auburn guard announced the news on Twitter Tuesday night. He recently visited the campus in Tampa, Fla. Lang revealed his intentions to transfer from Auburn March 22 after seeing a dip in playing time during his junior season. Lang appeared in 28 games as a junior in 2016-17 and averaged 4.5 points in 16.8 minutes per contest. He shot 39.8 percent from the field, including 39.5 percent from 3-point range. The year prior he played in all 31 games and had 28 starts while averaging 7.1 points in 24.9 minutes per game. "It was a frustrating season for TJ," Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl said last month. "He's been a good soldier. "TJ's been an off-and-on starter for three years and he did not start as often this year, certainly in the SEC season. And his playing time was very inconsistent. My thing is, if guys are successful, guys are happy, that's where I want them. I want them to be here."

NCAA1 - Duke Transfer Sean Obi Chooses Maryland over Georgetown, Georgia Tech  - by Eurobasket News - 2 days ago

Duke graduate transfer Sean Obi (6'9''-F-95) will reportedly play for the Maryland Terrapins next season. On Thursday, Jeff Goodman of ESPN.com reported the news and noted Obi chose Maryland over the likes of Georgia Tech and Georgetown. The 6'9" Obi didn't appear in a game for the Blue Devils last season because of injury and played just 27 total minutes and tallied five points and 10 rebounds in 2015-16. However, he thrived as a freshman at Rice in 2013-14 with 11.4 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. If he can remain healthy, Obi adds frontcourt depth to a Terrapins team that will be without the departed Damonte Dodd and L.G. Gill. Michal Cekovsky, Justin Jackson, Ivan Bender and incoming freshman Bruno Fernando, who is a 4-star recruit, per Scout, figure to play plenty of minutes, but Obi gives them another body down low who can battle for rebounds and score on the blocks.

NCAA1 - Former Husker Jeriah Horne announces Tulsa as transfer destination  - by Eurobasket News - 2 days ago

Jeriah Horne (6'7''-F) has committed to Tulsa after deciding last month to transfer from Nebraska. Horne will sit out next year due to transfer rules and then have three seasons left of eligibility. Horne was reportedly on an official visit to Tulsa when he made his decision. Kansas State and George Washington were other schools linked to Horne as possible transfer destinations. In a message he posted on Twitter, Horne said: "I'm excited to announce my commitment to the Univ of Tulsa. Thx to my family, friends, and supporters for always being there!" Tulsa went 15-17 overall last season and finished seventh in the 11-team American Athletic Conference under Frank Haith , the former Miami and Missouri head coach. The Golden Hurricanes last reached the NCAA tournament in 2014. Horne played in 29 of 31 games during his only season as a Husker, averaging 11.8 minutes a contest. He averaged 4.3 points and 1.9 rebounds while shooting 40.5 percent from the field and 33.3 percent on 3-pointers. Of his 116 field-goal attempts, 57 percent were 3s. In Nebraska's 83-80 upset of No. 20 Purdue, Horne was a key contributor, scoring 16 points and grabbing seven rebounds. He also had 12 points in a win over Indiana and 11 in a double-overtime victory over Iowa. But Horne also went through extended periods with little playing time, which he acknowledged occurred because of his substandard practice habits. Horne was one of four players to transfer from Nebraska this offseason with Nick Fuller, Michael Jacobson and Ed Morrow.

NCAA1 - Lumberjacks add Allen from Stanford  - by Eurobasket News - 2 days ago

Northern Arizona picked up a commitment from a player it pursued out of high school, as Stanford point guard Malcolm Allen (6'1''-G) committed to playing his senior year for the Lumberjacks. Allen announced the decision on his Twitter account after visiting the school recently. A graduate transfer, Allen is eligible to play immediately after spending four years alongside his brother Marcus at Stanford. A graduate of Centennial High School in Las Vegas, the 6-1 Allen gives the Lumberjacks a true point guard they needed at times last year following the injury to Jaleni Neely. Lumberjacks head coach Jack Murphy recruited Allen out of high school, where the guard earned offers from multiple schools, including many in the Ivy League due to his academic achievements. After playing in 16 games as a freshman, Allen missed nearly all of his sophomore season with a broken wrist. Returning in 2015-16, Allen played in 28 games and played 12 minutes per contest before seeing less time this past year. Playing 40 minutes across 11 games, Allen elected to leave Stanford with his twin brother's eligibility exhausted.

Israel - Florida lands star transfer Egor Koulechov from Rice  - by Eurobasket News - 3 days ago

Exit Devin Robinson (6'8''-F-95), enter Egor Koulechov (6'5''-G/F-94). Four days after Florida Gators basketball lost its best overall player, head coach Mike White landed the top available graduate transfer when Koulechov committed to play his final collegiate campaign with the Gators. Koulechov (6-foot-5, 210 pounds), a native of Volgograd, Russia, grew up in Israel and played high school basketball in South Florida. He began his college career at Arizona State, where he averaged 3.7 points in 14.0 minutes per game before transferring to Rice and sitting out the 2014-15 season. Koulechov became the Owls' best player over the last two campaigns, averaging 16.7 points and 7.0 rebounds as a redshirt sophomore while shooting 41.7 percent from the field and 34.2 percent from beyond the arc. He somehow managed to improve nearly his entire stat line this past season, posting averages of 18.2 points, 8.9 boards and 2.1 assist while standing out from beyond the arc by hitting threes at a .474 clip. The graduate transfer ultimately chose Florida over Oklahoma, and a visit to see the Gators two weeks ago coupled with plenty of personal recruiting from White likely solidified that decision. Koulechov also has a tremendous opportunity to play right away at Florida, either as a third starting guard or sixth man in a role similar to that Canyon Barry held during the 2016-17 campaign. It's worth noting that Koulechov projects better than Barry and comes to the Gators at a time of great needs when either three or four of their top six players will not return to the team next season. 'I'm very excited to announce that I'm headed to The University of Florida. Go Gators!!!' Koulechov wrote on Twitter.

NCAA1 - Memphis guard Markel Crawford will transfer to Ole Miss  - by Eurobasket News - 3 days ago

Markel Crawford (6'5''-G) intends to transfer to Ole Miss after graduating from Memphis in May, according to Scout's Ben Garrett. The shooting guard, who could potentially play the two or the three for Andy Kennedy, will be immediately eligible to play in Oxford as a graduate transfer. Crawford, who was ranked just outside of the nation's top 100 coming out of high school in 2013, averaged 12.8 points in just over 30 minutes per game as a redshirt junior for Memphis last season. His shooting percentage from the field (48 percent) and length (6'5) is even more enticing. Ole Miss' offense needs someone to help shoulder the load of replacing Sebastian Saiz and Crawford is another outstanding athlete who will join Deandre Burnett, Terence Davis, Cullen Neal and Breein Tyree in the backcourt. With Sebastian Saiz and his double doubles gone, there's been some concern that Ole Miss won't have anyone that can score next season. Terence Davis showed signs of brilliance at times last season and Deandre Burnett came on strong at the end, but the options behind them are limited. Crawford can bring some stability to an offense that needs someone to score buckets and grab rebounds (he averaged 4.4 boards per game in 2016). His arrival also allows Ole Miss to keep quite a bit of length on the floor, especially at the guard position. The Rebels could potentially have a starting five of Breein Tyree (6'2), Terence Davis (6'4), Markel Crawford (6'5), Marcanvis Hymon (6'7) and Dominik Olejniczak (7'0). Throw in fellas off the bench like Deandre Burnett (6'2), Cullen Neal (6'4), Justas Furmanavicius (6'7) and Karlis Silins (6'11) and Ole Miss all of a sudden has some big bodies to throw at opponents next season. And don't forget about newcomers Devontae Shuler (6'3), Parker Stewart (6'5), Jamarko Pickett (6'7) and JUCO transfer Bruce Stevens (6'8). Crawford will bring an explosive scoring mentality and an ability to get to the rack and finish. The Memphis native scored 15 or more points 13 times last season, including big-time games against South Carolina (28 points and seven rebounds), UConn (19 points and eight rebounds), Tulane (24 points and five three-pointers) and South Florida (30 points, seven rebounds and five three-pointers). The former four-star recruit should be a lot of fun to watch alongside explosive playmakers Davis and Tyree.

Iowa State is still pursuing Hutchinson Community College forward Shakur Juiston, the nation's top junior college recruit, according to most recruiting websites.
