JUCO - Obi Agu signs to Western Wyoming College  - by Eurobasket News - 5 hours ago

Barking Abbey forward Obinna Agu (6'6''-F-97) has signed to Western Wyoming College for the 2017-18 season. The 6'5 Agu has completed 3 years at BA after joining from Newham Youngbloods, in particular taking a leadership role during the 2016-17 season whilst helping BA to an undefeated season in the EABL and the National League Division 2 league and playoff title. 'I'm delighted for Obi, that he's able to continue his basketball career moving onto the US,' BA Head Coach Lloyd Gardner commented. 'There hasn't been many players that have maximised their ability coming through our programme the way Obi has. He's been one of the hardest workers that we've had in his three years with us.' Agu becomes the third BA player who will be on the Mustangs' roster for this season, joining Amin Adamu and alumnus Calvin Nevill-Kintu. 'I think that moving onto a place like Western Wyoming, where he'll be able to continue alongside two other Barking Abbey students is truly deserved for a player like Obi,' added Gardner. 'On the floor he's a very versatile athlete and I think he'll be able to help Western Wyoming, not just with his skill set and offensive and defensive ability, but through his leadership. 'He was a major factor in our success last year in both the EABL and National League season because of the leadership he was able to provide within games and in practice, he was a role model to some of the other players within our programme.' Agu averaged 9.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game in the EABL last season and represented the Great Britain Under-20s at the Division B European Championships this summer - his first call up to a National Team - where he helped them to Division A promotion.

Australia - LA Lakers add Bogut to their roster  - by Eurobasket News - 23 hours ago

He has been also a member of Australian international program for some years. Bogut has regularly played for Australian senior team since 2004 and previously for U21 National Team between 2004 and 2005.
He also represented Australia at the World Championships U18 in Greece fourteen years ago.
Bogut has played previously professionally in other NBA team (Golden State Warriors) and Australia (Australian Institute Sport).
On Bogut: A hard worker with a strong commitment to improving his skills. An excellent passer, Andrew will focus on developing his body.
World Championships U18 '03 comments (by Yarone Arbel):
The MVP of the championship. His parents are from Croatia, which is some sort of explanation to how such talent grew up down under. If for some reason something will go wrong on his route to the NBA, the Croatian passport will surely help him find a good spot in one of the top European teams. Next season he will go to Utah University, in the championship itself he was simply unstoppable, posting double-double already after one half in both Semi Finals and Finals game.
He knows how to use his size in the PF. Very tall and athletic, and although there's no doubt he's the best player in the team, on court he fights like a bull, work with his teammates and make them look much much better. There's no doubt that Bogut was the difference between a nice Australian NT and a gold winning team that routed everyone on the way to the top. All teams focused and tried to stop Bogut. All failed and paid even more because of Bogut's unselfishness.
He got a great mobility in the low post, box him out and he can go out to the high post and the Swish will arrive in less than a second. His shot selection is very good, can hit the three pointer when there's a chance, but he doesn't force it. If you try to stop his outside shot, he can penetrate, on both sides, and mostly finish with 2 points. His rebounding skill is bigger than life, on both ends of the floor, and it's not only a matter of good position. His leap and struggle helps him a lot.
Let's try to impress with titles: 3rd best scorer, best rebounder with 3.7 more rebounds than the runner up, drawn more fouls and made free throws more than anyone else, 10th in blocks, 2nd in 2FG% and first, again by a big margin, in the TENDEX ranking. 22 pts, 18 rbs and 5 assists vs. the USA in the Semi Finals qualifying match, 39 pts & 25 (!!!) rbs in the Semi Finals vs. Croatia and 35 pts & 14 rbs in the finals. What do you say about that?

Rautins is quite experienced player. He has played also professionally in Germany (Deutsche Bank Skyliners), Italy (Openjobmetis VA), Spain (HLA Alicante), NBA (Oklahoma City Thunder) and NBA G League (Oklahoma City Blue).
Rautins could be described: (by Jonathan Wasserman for NBADraft.net in 2010)
He is always active without the ball, constantly running through and around screens to free himself open More than just a 3 point specialist, it's his play making abilities that make him a well rounded player He has an excellent basketball IQ, along with tremendous court vision, his passing skills can sometimes go overlooked When he does have an open lane to penetrate, Andy has the ability to take it, and set up his teammates for easy baskets.
He lacks athleticism, size and strength, which hurt him on both ends when comparing him to other shooting guards at the next level He does not have the quickest first step, which really makes him nothing more than catch and shoot threat when it comes to scoring

NCAA1 - Four-star forward commits to Ohio State  - by Eurobasket News - 23 hours ago

Ohio State is on the board with regards to the 2018 recruiting class, as Chris Holtmann 's program received a much-needed verbal commitment from four-star forward Jaedon LeDee. The 6-foot-9 Houston native announced his decision via his Twitter account Tuesday afternoon. In receiving a verbal commitment from LeDee, Ohio State beat out California, Houston, Iowa State, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and UCLA. The Buckeyes hosted LeDee for his official visit the weekend of September 9, which coincided with the football team's matchup with Oklahoma. Originally scheduled to visit Cal this past weekend, LeDee instead visited Texas A&M. With LeDee's commitment to Ohio State, visits to LSU (September 30) and UCLA (October 6) are likely off the board. Currently attending the Kincaid School, LeDee played for the Texas PRO grassroots program on the adidas Uprising circuit this summer. The four-star prospect will likely be a combo forward for Ohio State, playing either the three or the four depending on the matchup. With Jae'Sean Tate beginning his senior season and Keita Bates-Diop being a redshirt junior, Ohio State had a need to address in the front court. In landing a verbal pledge from Jaedon LeDee, the Buckeyes have done just that. Among the front court players who will have eligibility remaining beyond the 2017-18 season are Bates-Diop, current sophomores Micah Potter and Andre Wesson, and freshmen Kaleb Wesson and Kyle Young.

NCAA1 - Four-star forward commits to Wake Forest  - by Eurobasket News - 23 hours ago

Danny Manning added another four-star recruit to his 2018 recruiting class. Isaiah Mucius (6'7''-F), a 6-foot-7 forward, committed to Wake Forest on Monday evening, giving the Demon Deacons another top-rated prospect alongside top-25 prospect Jaylen Hoard in 2018. 'I'd like to thank my family and my friends for having my back throughout all the tough times and good times,' Mucius said in a social media post. 'I'd like to thank all the college coaches that recruited me through this process and believed in me and my talents. 'I'll be attending Wake Forest University.' Mucius, a consensus top-100 recruit, visited Wake Forest, which he visited this past weekend, over Xavier, which he visited earlier this month. The Brewster Academy product also had offers from the likes of Connecticut, Minnesota and LSU, among others. Manning's 2018 class now includes Mucius, three-star guard Sharone White and Hoard, a 6-foot-8 four-star forward who committed to the Demon Deacons last month. 'I am trying to win an NCAA Championship,' Mucius told Scout.com, 'and I think having Jaylen (Hoard) on the wing with me, and we are trying to help get a point guard, and I think we can win a championship.'

NCAA1 - Vanderbilt lands commitment from Aaron Nesmith  - by Eurobasket News - 23 hours ago

Vanderbilt landed their first commitment in the Class of 2018 with four-star wing Aaron Nesmith. Nesmith is a native of South Carolina, and the Commodores beat out South Carolina for his services. At 6-foot-6, Nesmith is the kind of defensive presence and athlete that Vandy will need to replace Jeff Roberson, who will be graduating this season. This is a critical class for Bryce Drew, who is squarely in the mix for five-star guards Darius Garland and Romeo Langford. Nesmith isn't on that level, but he will be a nice piece for Vandy for four years.

The scouts decsribe him following way: (by Aran Smith for NBADraft.net in 2006)
Very skilled big man. Knows how to play close to the basket, but excels outside ... His coordination and height are a great combination ... Plays very well on the perimeter, jump shot out past 20 feet is consistent ... Even knocks down the three point shot ... A real offensive threat with great form and confidence in his jump shot ...
Lacks the foot speed to defend small forwards ... Must become better defensively ... Lacks a great back to the basket game ..
