NBA - Celtics To Prioritize Gordon Hayward In Free Agency  - by Eurobasket News - 5 days ago

The Celtics have the assets to pull off a trade for a star this summer, though the team is focusing its attention on the free agent market with the hopes landing Gordon Hayward (6'8''-G/F-90, college: Butler), Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reports. Wojnarowski notes that Boston could have a better idea of where it stands with Hayward leading up to the draft. Hayward didn't make an All-NBA team, which means he won't be eligible for the new designated player extension. That marginalizes the advantage that the Jazz have in re-signing the 27-year-old and it could open the door for another team to pry him from Utah. Celtics coach Brad Stevens recruited and coached Hayward at Butler University prior to making the jump to the professional ranks. Boston has just under $62MM in guaranteed salary on the books next season against a projected $101MM salary cap. Tyler Zeller has an $8MM non-guaranteed salary for next season, so if the team offers a max deal to a free agent, he'll most likely be released.

Whaley averaged 18 points, nine rebounds and three blocks at Evelyn Mack, which went 34-6 for coach Greg Primus. "Isaiah is super athletic - very fluid," Primus said. "He had a lot of college programs interested in him when he was with us. He's very quiet and shy, but he's a hard worker on the court. I think he'll keep getting better in college." 'He was 18 when he left. He was OK with it, but last year he really didn't want to go back and we talked him in to going back. He said once he got there he realized how far it was.' Fischer's career allowed him to visit three different continents. He tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Latin America and of course North America. Fischer has played previously professionally also in Switzerland (Martigny, MGS Grand-Saconnex Basket and Rh.Herens) and Brazil (Hebraica and Sao Jose/Vinac).
On Fischer: Rare and true amazing basketball talent at the point guard position ... excellent court awarness ... sees plays before getting ball in his hands, thus he has great anticipation and becomes very hard to guard ... excellent long range shooter and driver for his age ... seems to always know what to do and quickly picks systems and plays up ... competitive and hard nosed ... defensively does not back down to anyone, likes to play defense ... shows toughness against older and more mature players ... will grow into an excellent player and his overall talent is very high ... moves well, is rapid and has quick feet with good body control ... good handles ... can create his shot and creates well for others ... fast and dangerous in the open court.
