NBA - Chris Paul, Spurs Believed To Have Mutual Interest  - by Eurobasket News - 3 hours ago

Chris Paul (6'0''-PG-85, college: Wake Forest) is widely expected to re-sign with the Los Angeles Clippers this offseason in free agency, but the San Antonio Spurs are lurking as a potential destination. 'I know they're concerned about their point guard position," said Zach Lowe on The Lowe Post podcast. "Dejounte Murray looks good, but he's not ready yet." "They need a bridge there, right?" said Kevin Arnovitz. "They need a little bit of a bridge between (Tony) Parker and Murray." "Maybe Mills is the bridge but Mills is about to get expensive and I think we saw in this series that he's just not a drive and kick guy. That's just who he is. Patty Mills is great for what he is. "I know there's been a lot of rumblings about Chris Paul, and I think that's real. I think there's mutual interest there. I don't know how real it is given that the Clippers can offer a gigantic amount of money and are also a really good team. The Spurs, like I said, have no sort of cap flexibility to get there. I'm very curious about what they do this summer and who's on the team next year. And maybe rolling it back is all they can end up doing."

NCAA1 - Jalen Coleman-Lands to transfer out of Illinois  - by Eurobasket News - 22 hours ago

The already-thin Illinois roster got thinner on Thursday afternoon. Evan Daniels of Scout.com reported that sophomore guard Jalen Coleman-Lands (6'3''-G-96) has requested and received his release from the program. He will have to sit out next season but will have two years of eligibility remaining. Coleman-Lands was a top-40 recruit in the Class of 2015, according to Rivals. He becomes the second player from that recruiting class this month to exit the school. Reserve guard D.J. Williams elected to transfer on May 8. With Jeremiah Tilmon and Javon Pickett, two incoming recruits, both previously reopened their recruitments following John Groce's firing. Even with the addition of Wright State graduate transfer Mark Alstork, who officially joined the Fighting Illini on Wednesday, Illinois is left with only nine scholarship players as of right now. Coleman-Lands' production dipped from his freshman campaign, ending the 2016-17 season averaging 8.0 points and 2.3 rebounds per game, shooting 38 percent from three. One destination that will likely be rumored will be nearby DePaul. Coleman-Lands played for new DePaul assistant coach Shane Heirman at prep school powerhouse La Lumiere School. Heriman quickly tapped into that prep pipeline, helping secure a commitment from La Lumiere from five-star 2019 point guard Tyger Campbell earlier this month. Coleman-Lands had taken official visits to Notre Dame and UNLV before committing to the Illini in September 2014.

NCAA1 - Four-star guard picks Florida State over UCLA giving Seminoles a top 15 class  - by Rick Ross - 3 days ago

Courtesy of cbssports.com
Replacing the production of leading scorers Dwayne Bacon and one-and-done center Jonathan Isaac off a 26-win team won't be an easy task for Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton. But he has plenty of help on the way after four-star shooting guard M.J. Walker committed to play for the Seminoles in a ceremony on Wednesday morning.
Walker chose Florida State over UCLA, Ohio State, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech.

With the commitment of Walker, Florida State now boasts the 12th-rated recruiting class according to 247Sports-jumping up 13 spots in the national rankings. He now becomes the top-rated commitment for the 'Noles in the Class of 2017 and is the second top-100 recruit headed to play for Hamilton next season, joining 7-foot center Ikechukwu Obiagu.
Landing a recruit of Walker's caliber this late in the process is a huge coup for Hamilton, who will bring in three highly touted freshmen shooting guards in Bryan Trimble, Anthony Polite and Walker to, in theory, replace Bacon's production in a committee-like approach. With Walker joining the fold, FSU will likely rely heavily on his scoring production from day one as it determines a new offensive identity next season.

Leonard Hamilton has landed top-30 prospects in three consecutive classes at Florida State now, joining Dwayne Bacon (2015) and Jonathan Isaac (2016). And while top recruiting classes don't always translate to wins, the Seminoles have steadily trended upwards over the last several seasons, going 17-16 in 2014-15, 20-14 in 2015-16, and 26-9 in 2016-17.
