United Kingdom - Suns beat off stiff competition to land Fritz  - by Paul Nilsen - 3 days ago

Sevenoaks Suns have pipped a number of leading WBBL clubs to sign Hungarian standout Judit Fritz, who has been one of the top players in the league since its inception three years ago.
The versatile forward / wing has had some sensational numbers with Cardiff Met Archers in the past three seasons and was deservedly named to the Molten WBBL Team of the Year for her efforts in 2016-17.
Fritz played at a FIBA U19 Women's World Championship for her country earlier in her career and will be a major driver in Sevenoaks trying to snap up more silverware.
"I am very excited to have Judit join us," smiled Suns' Molten Ed Percival WBBL Coach of the Year, Len Busch.
"She has been one of the top players in the WBBL during the past few years. She can clearly score and play defence.
"I'm looking forward to seeing how her game unfolds playing alongside the likes of Cat Carr and TaYani Clark, and the rest of our lineup," added the play-caller.

United Kingdom - Reynolds joins Pride from Detroit Titans  - by Paul Nilsen - 3 days ago

Caledonia Pride are delighted to announce their latest addition to the 2017-18 roster as Scotland's only women's professional franchise continue their recruitment drive for their second season in the WBBL.
With a trio of new Scottish players already joining Pride, Head Coach Bart Sengers is pleased to welcome American Guard Rosanna Reynolds (178-G) to the Capital for the 2017-18 season.
Reynolds most recently played for the Detroit Titans in Division 1 of the Women's NCAA where she finished her Titans' career ranked first in assists (552) and third in scoring with 1745 points.
Bart Sengers is excited to welcome the new signing to Edinburgh and believes she will be a valuable addition to the team: 'I am very excited that we have been able to convince Rosanna to choose Pride as her next team. She will be another player that brings the team more experience and she can help us out in many ways.
"She can run the point-guard for us if needed but is also comfortable playing the 2 or 3. She can really score the ball but also has a knack for finding her teammates when they are open. I believe we have found an intelligent player who compliments our other players very well.
Reynolds will complete her move to Pride in the coming weeks subject to visa approval. Commenting on her recent signing, Rosanna said: 'I am so excited to be joining Caledonia pride. To have the opportunity to play and learn from them is going to be great.
"I have heard nothing but positive things about the players, coaching staff and the programme as a whole which is the most exciting part! I look forward to playing with them this season and can't wait to get started.'
Caledonia Pride will begin their season at home on Saturday 7th October when they welcome defending Champions Nottingham Wildcats to the University of Edinburgh.

United Kingdom - Key trio get to return with Sevenoaks  - by Paul Nilsen - 3 days ago

Sevenoaks Suns have ensured added continuity for the forthcoming WBBL season with the return of Renee E. Busch (175-G-92, college: Pennsylvania), Millie Watkins and Kaitlyn Lewis.
The WBBL Trophy and Play-Off winners show no signs of slowing down during a busy pre-season, with head coach Len Busch thrilled to have more familiar faces back on board.
He said: "Renee was a huge addition to us for the second half of last season. Her work ethic was contagious and her shooting ability helped spread the floor for us.
"She definitely helped us punish teams that focused too much on Cat Carr. Now she's looking forward to a full season in the WBBL.
"I am very happy that Millie Watkins has decided to return for another season. She is a terrific teammate and a real professional who helps us in a lot of ways that outsiders might not see. She makes practices better and brings a vast amount of experience to our club.
"Meanwhile Kaitlyn has been with Suns since she was U14 and will always have a home with us," continued the play-caller.
"I am hoping that she can make a full recovery from the knee trouble that limited her at the end of last season."
Suns aren't finished yet and will be announcing a marquee signing tomorrow as they add the finishing touches to a side that they hope will challenge for more honours.
