Real Madrid conquered the ANGT 22/23 trophy tonight. They rallied past NGST in Kaunas to capture the title. The game was mostly controlled by Real Madrid. NGST managed to win second period 24-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded NGST 45-32 including 16 on the offensive glass. Slovenian swingman Jan Vide (195-2005) fired 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Guard Hugo Gonzalez (198-2006) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. Five Real Madrid players scored in double figures. FC Barcelona clinch Zadar Tournament title, Kasparas Jakucionis named MVP-Mar 5, 2023
After he helped U18 FC Barcelona to take first place and lock up a spot at the ANGT Finals, Kasparas Jakucionis (187-F-2006) was named Most Valuable Player of the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament Zadar.
Jakucionis was joined on the All-Tournament by his teammate Dame Sarr (196-F-2006), Lucas Langarita (192-G-2005) of U18 Casademont Zaragoza, Toni Bilic (201-G-2005) of U18 Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana and Mouhamed Faye (206-C-2005) from U18 Next Generation Team Zadar. With 16 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals for a performance index rating of 20, Jakucionis played a major role in Barcelona winning the first-place game 54-81 over Zaragoza. For the tournament, the Lithuanian averaged 19.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.0 steals for a PIR of 25.0. He ranked fifth in scoring, fourth in assists, tied for first in steals and second in PIR. In the first-place game, Sarr collected 27 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals for PIR of 29. The Italian averaged 19.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 3.0 steals, resulting in a PIR of 17.8. With those averages, Sarr ranked third in scoring, tied for first in steals and ninth in index rating.

Hugo Gonzalez (198-G-2006) was named the Most Valuable Player of the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament Munich after guiding U18 Real Madrid to first place and a spot at the ANGT Finals. Gonzalez was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Real teammate Jan Vide (195-F/G-2005) as well as Justas Stonkus (192-G/F-2005) from Zalgiris Kaunas, Jack Kayil (184-G-2006) from ALBA Berlin and Panathinaikos Athens forward Alexandros Samontourov (209-SF-2005). Gonzalez scored 22 points and added 3 rebounds and 4 steals in Real's 84-64 victory over Zalgiris in the first-place game. For the tournament, Gonzalez averaged 19.2 points on 58.8% two-point shooting and 62.2% on three-pointers, 3.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocks for a PIR of 19.8. Kayil stood out for the fourth-place finisher, ALBA, pouring in 18.5 points to go with 4.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.8 steals for an index rating of 26.2. The German guard, who also shot 60.9% on two-pointers and 52.9% on three-pointers, ranked fourth in points, second in PIR, tied for fifth in assists and first in steals.
Samontourov was the leader of a Panathinaikos team that won two games and finished fifth. The forward collected 22.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.8 steals and 1.5 blocks for a PIR of 27.2. He finished as the tournament's leader in scoring and PIR and was tied for second in steals and blocks and eighth in rebounds.
