Rokas Giedraitis (198-SF-92) led the winners with 22 points, Gintaras Leonavicius (194-G-83, agency: Players Group) and Julius Jucikas (205-C/F-89) added 18 points (Jucikas also 8 rbs) and Rolandas Alijevas 12 points, 7 rbs and 5 assists. Kristaps Janicenoks (196-F-83) scored 18 and Jerai Grant 17 points in losing effort. Siauliai outrebounded the guests 42:33 (offensive rebounds - 16:4!) Siauliai won the first quarter 18:17 but fell under opponents' pressure in second as Ventspils won the first half 38:32. With 22 minutes played, Ventspils led 44:34 (+ 12 in aggregate score) but since then, the hosts found a new gear. Three-pointers by Giedraitis, Sulskis and Alijevas ignited their 21:7 run and with a quarter to go, Siauliai led 61:57. In last quarter, Siauliai had a total dominance under opponents' basket as they took 5 offensive rebounds during last five minutes. It was 74:67 (aggregate +5) for Siauliai with 6 minutes to go but Ventspild managed to shut down opponents's attack since then completely and finish the 4th quarter with a 5:0 run to take the game to overtime. Siauliai missed last 11 shots. The overtime belonged to the hosts. Jucikas and Leonavicius completed an 8:2 run in less than 2 minutes to make it 82:74. Two-pointer by Vairogs kept the guests alive but free throws by Sulskis and Alijevas made it 85:77 with less than a minute to go. Gkikas scored from a long range to make it minus-3 on the aggregate score but Giedraitis put the final nail in the opponents' soffin with a decisive three-pointer with 22 seconds left and then it was time to celebrate for the Yellow team. BBL Cup: Liepaja/Triobet claim the trophy - Sep 28, 2014 Liepaja/Triobet - TU/Rock 74:61 Liepaja earned the BBL Cup title. They overcame TU/Rock in the Final at the Liepajas Olympic Centre today. Mareks Jurevicus (197-G/F-85) had 13 points to pace the hosts. He was named the MVP after the game. Liepaja gained a 20:14 lead after the opening quarter. TU/Rock cut the deficit in the second frame. The Estonian team pulled within 4 points at the interval 36:40. But Liepaja limited their opponents to just 12 points in the third term and opened an 8-point advantage at the final intermission. Liepaja followed with an 18:13 run in the fourth term and sealed the victory. Dwayne Johnson (186-G, college: Southeastern), Janis Antrops (193-G-91) and Edgaras Zelionis (201-F-89) had 10 points each in the win. Joosep Toome (208-C-85) and Augustas Peciukevicius (192-G-91) replied with 13 points each for TU/Rock.
