Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Beer Yaakov (12-9) rolled over at home 8th ranked Hapoel Afula (9-12) 99-78. The game was mostly controlled by Beer Yaakov. Hapoel Afula was better in fourth quarter 23-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Beer Yaakov especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.1 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The best player for the winners was swingman Gilad Karni (195-87) who scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Jermaine Hall (196-80, college: Wagner) chipped in 26 points. Four Beer Yaakov players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Darnell Hugee (201-85, college: Prairie View A&M) who recorded 19 points and guard Avi Eliyahu (175-87, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) added 13 points and 6 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Beer Yaakov moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Megido/Yokneam. Hapoel Afula lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with 12 games lost. Beer Yaakov's next round opponent will be Elitzur Ramla (#7) on the road. Hapoel Afula will play against Hapoel Tivon in Kiryat Tivon and be promoted back to the Premier League just one year after relegation.
