There was no surprise when 6th ranked Novy Jicin (1-5) was defeated on the road by third ranked BK Pardubice (4-2) 84-74 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-74. The best player for the winners was American guard Maurice Hampton (188-84, college: Austin Peay St.) who scored 13 points. The other American import power forward Marcus Arnold (207-84, college: Illinois, agency: Stanley International) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. Arnold is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Canadian-Jamaican forward Corey Muirhead (198-83, college: W.Carolina) produced 21 points and Serbian-German forward Robert Sarovic (205-78) added 17 points respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. BK Pardubice maintains third position in A1 with 4-2 record having 35 points less than leader B&W Opava. Loser Novy Jicin dropped to the fifth place with five games lost. BK Pardubice will face NH Ostrava (#4) on the road in the next round. Novy Jicin will play against BK Decin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
