Regular Season Round 10: Pyrinto - Kouvot 67-66

Important game to mention about took place in Tampere. First ranked Tampereen Pyrinto (6-1) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 6th ranked Kouvot (4-5) 67-66 on Wednesday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kouvot. The hosts were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 22-12 Kouvot's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 67-66 at the end of the game. Tampereen Pyrinto forced 20 Kouvot turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Antti Nikkila (210-78, college: Valparaiso) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Antwine Williams (192-75, college: N.Colorado, agency: Prossin Sports Management) contributed with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Tampereen Pyrinto players scored in double figures. American guard Antoine Jordan (196-83, college: Siena) replied with 8 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Josh Gonner (188-82, college: S.Carolina) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Kouvot. Despite that victory Tampereen Pyrinto went down to fourth position due to points difference. Kouvot at the other side keeps the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with Korihait. Tampereen Pyrinto will play against Salon Vilpas (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Kouvot will play against Kauhajoen Karhu in Kauhajoki and hopes to get back on the winning track.
