We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Tampico where sixth ranked Huracanes (17-11) defeated 5th ranked Pioneros (17-9) 100-85 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 100-85. Huracanes dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Pioneros' 38. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Pioneros' players. Venezuelan forward Nestor Colmenares (203-87, college: Campbellsville) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and American power forward Robert Hornsby (196-82, college: Troy) chipped in 20 points and 4 assists. Huracanes moved-up to fifth place. Loser Pioneros dropped to the fourth position with nine games lost. Huracanes will face bottom-ranked Volcanes (#14) in Toluca in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pioneros will play on the road against Correcaminos (#9) in Ciudad Victoria.
