Regular Season Round 22: Kauhajoki - Kouvot 84-79

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Kouvot's (9-10) road loss to fifth ranked Kauhajoen Karhu (12-8) 79-84 on Friday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kouvot won third quarter 24-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Kauhajoen Karhu won last quarter 22-18. They also forced 20 Kouvot turnovers. American players dominated the game. Forward Todd Hendley (206-84, college: NC-Wilmington) had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Kelly Beidler (199-88, college: Mt.St.Mary's, agency: R.H.Consultancy) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Anthony Brown (203-86, college: Oklahoma St., agency: KMG Sports Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and guard Antoine Jordan (196-83, college: Siena) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kauhajoen Karhu moved-up to fourth place, which they share with ToPo. Loser Kouvot keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. Kauhajoen Karhu will meet at home Salon Vilpas (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Kouvot will play against Namika Lahti and hope to secure a win.
