Bottom-ranked Sozh Gomel (0-17) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 17th consecutive match to third ranked Rubon (10-7) 85-49. The game without a history. Rubon led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 27 Sozh Gomel turnovers. The former international guard Dmitri Akulich (192-86) notched 17 points, 6 assists and 5 steals (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and guard Siarhei Sapegin (195-84) supported him with 17 points. Akulich is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Rubon players scored in double figures. Even 22 points (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) by center Igor Drobyshevskiy (206-93) did not help to save the game for Sozh Gomel. point guard Yahor Patupchyk (186-94) added 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rubon maintains third position with 10-7 record having seven points less than leader Grodno-93. Sozh Gomel at the other side still closes the standings. Rubon will play against league's second-placed Minsk-2006 at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sozh Gomel will have a break next round.
