An interesting game for Hamamatsu Phoenix (29-13) which hosted in Mikawa their biggest opponent Akita Happinets (27-18). First ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix managed to get a 11-point victory 92-81. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Akita Happinets. The game was mostly controlled by Hamamatsu Phoenix. Akita Happinets was better in fourth quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hamamatsu Phoenix forced 20 Akita Happinets turnovers and outrebounded them 45-33 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Akita Happinets were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American guard Jermaine Dixon (191-87, college: Pittsburgh, agency: VVG Sports) who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. His fellow American import forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: Florida Atlantic, agency: Dynamics Global Management) contributed with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Hamamatsu Phoenix players scored in double figures. American swingman Ricky Woods (194-84, college: SE Louisiana) answered with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international forward Kazuhiro Shoji (191-74) added 16 points in the effort for Akita Happinets. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Hamamatsu Phoenix have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 29-13 record. Loser Akita Happinets keep the second position with 18 games lost. Hamamatsu Phoenix will face again league's second-placed Akita Happinets at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
