Regular Season Round 8: Lanus - Boca Jrs 72-66
Date: October 7, 2012
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Buenos Aires: Lanus (#5) and Boca Juniors (#4). Lanus (4-3) won against visiting Boca Juniors (3-4) 72-66. Boca Juniors was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 44-37 second half run of Lanus. Boca Juniors was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by naturalized Italian swingman Adrian Boccia (195-82) who scored that evening 15 points and 6 rebounds and American forward William McFarlan (201-76, college: St.Thomas Aquinas, agency: Dream Team Management) supported him with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Four Lanus players scored in double figures. Even 14 points by the former international point guard Maximiliano Stanic (178-78, agency: Players Group) did not help to save the game for Boca Juniors. American forward John DeGroat (198-85, college: Pittsburgh) added 14 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lanus moved-up to third place in South, which they share with Obras. Boca Juniors at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with Wuber-Est.Bahia and GECR Indalo. Lanus will play against GECR Indalo (#5) in Comodoro R. in the next round. Boca Juniors' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Buenos Aires Obras.
