Regular Season Round 21: Toyota B SR - JX Sunflowers 64-97

Undefeated leader JX Sunflowers delivered the nineteenth consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time they crushed 9th ranked Toyota B SR (6-13) 97-64 in Aichi. The game was mostly controlled by JX Sunflowers. Toyota B SR managed to win fourth quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. JX Sunflowers dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Toyota B SR's 30. JX Sunflowers forced 20 Toyota B SR turnovers and outrebounded them 42-26 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international power forward Yuka Mamiya (185-90) stepped up and scored 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners and the former international power forward Ramu Tokashiki (191-91) chipped in 15 points and 16 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four JX Sunflowers players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was power forward Sari Osabe (174-87) with 31 points and 9 rebounds and forward Mika Yamanaka (175-88) scored 12 points. JX Sunflowers (19-0) have an impressive series of nineteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with a perfect record of 19 victories in a row. Newly promoted Toyota B SR keeps the ninth position with 13 games lost. JX Sunflowers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toyota B SR will play again against the league's leader JX Sunflowers (#1) in Kashiwa and hope to secure a win.
