Regular Season Round 21: Pau-Lacq-Orthez - Nantes 86-80

Leader Pau-Lacq-Orthez delivered the seventeenth victory. This time they beat 12th ranked Nantes (8-13) 86-80. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-17. But Nantes won second period 18-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pau-Lacq-Orthez forced 22 Nantes turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Nantes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Naturalized Senegalese forward Antoine Mendy (198-83) nailed 18 points for the winning side and American forward Brian Boddicker (204-81, college: Texas) accounted for 19 points. American guard LaMarshall Corbett (190-88, college: Angelo St.) came up with 20 points and the other American import power forward James Mathis (200-84, college: Niagara, agency: Court Side) added 11 points and 5 assists respectively for Nantes in the defeat. Five Pau-Lacq-Orthez and four Nantes players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Pau-Lacq-Orthez. They maintain first place with 17-4 record. Nantes at the other side dropped to the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. Pau-Lacq-Orthez's next round opponent will be Le Portel (#5) on the road. Nantes will play against Hyeres-Toulon (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
