Regular Season Round 16: Atlanta D. - S.Antonio SS 93-67

Date: June 30, 2013
Tiffany Hayes scored 19 points, Angel McCoughtry had 15 points and nine assists, and the Atlanta Dream beat the San Antonio Silver Stars 93-67 on Sunday to improve their WNBA-best record to 10-1. Jasmine Thomas added 15 points, and Aneika Henry had 12 to help the Dream win their sixth straight game and remain perfect in seven home games. Jia Perkins scored 19 points for San Antonio (3-7). The Silver Stars have lost five of their last six. San Antonio dressed just eight players, with DeLisha Milton-Jones (leg) and Shenise Johnson (knee) joining the team's lengthy injury list. The Silver Stars already were without Becky Hammon (finger), Jayne Appel (concussion) and Sophia Young (knee). Atlanta made its first six shots en route to a 24-14 lead at the end of the first quarter and was up 33-16 early in the second. San Antonio then ran off 12 straight points and cut it to 49-40 at halftime thanks to five second-quarter 3-pointers. The Dream, though, made nine of 12 shots while outscoring the Silver Stars 24-12 in the third quarter and were up 73-52 going into the fourth. McCoughtry had 13 of her points in the first half. Atlanta, the best defensive team in the WNBA, forced 21 turnovers, but committed 18 — eight in the first quarter. The Dream had 25 assists on 36 baskets and outrebounded San Antonio 38-24. The Dream, who had just one road game during the winning streak, will play the next four games away from Atlanta. The stretch starts at Minnesota on July 9. Atlanta's winning streak has come without Sancho Lyttle, the second-leading scorer and leading rebounder for the Dream. Lyttle, who averaged 15.4 points and 9.0 rebounds in the first five games, is playing with Spain's national team. Courtesy of: foxnews.com
