Regular Season Round 4: Batumi - Kutaisi 87-85

The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Kutaisi (3-1) on the court of sixth ranked Batumi on Friday night. Visitors were edged by Batumi 87-85. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Kutaisi. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-85. Strangely Kutaisi outrebounded Batumi 44-30 including 18 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian guard Junior Cadougan (205-90, college: Marquette) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. American swingman Jeremy Saffold (198-91, college: Wisc.-Parkside, agency: N.E.T.) contributed with 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Guard Levan Tsekvava (190-89) replied with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and international Akaki Dvalishvili (206-90) added 18 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Kutaisi. Five Kutaisi players scored in double figures. Batumi (2-2) moved-up to fifth place. Kutaisi at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. Batumi are looking forward to face Sokhumi (#7) in Tbilisi in the next round. Kutaisi will play on the road against MIA (#4) in Tbilisi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
