Date: November 22, 2013
There was no surprise when 6th ranked Olimpi (1-4) was crushed on the road by third ranked Kutaisi (5-1) 83-64 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Kutaisi. Olimpi managed to win second period 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kutaisi forced 20 Olimpi turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Olimpi's players. International Akaki Dvalishvili (206-90) had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Levan Tsekvava (190-89) chipped in 13 points and 8 assists during the contest. Four Kutaisi players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was center Revaz Atanelishvili (207-86, agency: Interperformances) with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Nodar Gogodze (191-94) scored 11 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kutaisi maintains third position with 5-1 record having just -1 point less than leader Armia. Olimpi lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with four games lost. Kutaisi will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Olimpi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Sokhumi.
