Regular Season Round 13: Al Sadd - Al Gharafa 68-83

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Doha: Al Gharafa (#4) and Al Sadd (#2). Al Sadd was defeated at home 68-83 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Sadd. American guard Larry Blair (183-84, college: Liberty, agency: Norton Sports Management) stepped up and scored 23 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners and Egyptian guard Omar Salem (190) chipped in 20 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side international swingman Khalid Suliman (198-87) responded with 21 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard Daoud Mousa (193-82) scored 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Gharafa (9-4) moved-up to third place, which they share with Al Jaysh and Al Arabi. Al Sadd at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Al Gharafa's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Shamal.
