Regular Season Round 13: Ragusa - Chieti 82-63
Date: January 12, 2014
Bottom-ranked C.U.S. Chieti (0-13) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 82-63 loss to second ranked Ragusa (12-1) in Ragusa on Sunday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. They also forced 19 C.U.S. Chieti turnovers and had a 13-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. American point guard Riquna Williams (170-90, college: Miami, FL) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and her fellow American import power forward Ashley Walker (187-87, college: California, agency: Merit Management Group) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. Ragusa's coach Antonio Molino used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Sequoia Holmes (185-86, college: UNLV, agency: Merit Management Group) responded with 24 points and 5 rebounds and Argentinian swingman Macarena Rosset (178-91) scored 17 points. The victory was the third consecutive win for Ragusa. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Familia Schio. C.U.S. Chieti lost their thirteenth game in a row. They still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Ragusa will meet Cagliari CUS (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. C.U.S. Chieti will play against La Spezia and hopes to get finally their first victory.
