Regular Season Round 16: Ironi K-A - Hapoel K/S 88-87
Date: January 28, 2014
A very interesting game took place in Kiryat Ata. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 9th ranked Hapoel Kfar Saba (7-9) to tenth ranked Ironi Kiryat Ata (7-9) 88-87 in the fight for the ninth place. Hapoel Kfar Saba was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Strangely Hapoel Kfar Saba outrebounded Ironi Kiryat Ata 52-35 including 17 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by American guard Durrell Summers (196-89, college: Michigan St.) who scored that evening 28 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized Canadian point guard Simon Farine (188-87) supported him with 15 points. Even a double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds by American forward Murphy Holloway (201-90, college: Mississippi) did not help to save the game for Hapoel Kfar Saba. His fellow American import guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) added 16 points and 15 rebounds for lost side. Four Hapoel Kfar Saba players scored in double figures. Ironi Kiryat Ata moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Hapoel K/S and Elitzur Ramla. Ironi Kiryat Ata's next round opponent will be higher ranked Hapoel Afula (#5) on the road and it may be quite challenging game.
